This is what Black Marble means to me

Recommended Posts

Hi,

That is with B/M Vector roads running at Default Plus. I'm running a 7700K O/C to 4.6 and a 1080TI board. I had to adjust the size and distance of the lights to get the look I wanted, she is real close now.

IS there any way to modify those P3D textures for those roads. particularly those small roads.. ? MAke it a lot thinner or invisible? :)

Those are standard P3D textures.

Is it just one bmp file? :)

Yes you can make them smaller in the terrain config and, yes, they are standard textures.

Would someone mind making a couple of screenshots of Tokyo?  I'm still planning my P3D4 build so I can't get BM yet until I've got it up and running.

I'm wondering if it takes a mighty system to do that with volumetric lighting.

not at all, we designed Black Marble initially to run on a 32bit platforms!!!

in this example we show how we can single out and turnoff any road class; in this case we turn off service road running inside airports,

Certainly closer to X-plane, but with X-Plane all of the street lighting is dynamic when HDR is enabled which, IMO, still can't be beat.

Totally agree with this! I'm still leaning towards giving BM a try when I get back home. Especially with the money back guarantee. But, the claims that this is equal to X-Plane to me don't seem possible. It's the lighting engine itself that makes X-Plane the winner at night. This brings ESP sims closer, but still it misses that "extra" that XP has.  This is light orbs hanging above the ground with "baked" light textures on the ground.  XP, the lights actually behave like lights and light up the ground and other things. This is not BM's fault of course.  It's a limitation of the sim itself that will prevent any night lighting solution from equaling XP.  Imagine vector data like this inXP!!!!

Thank you Kevin :wub:
we did our best to work around the limitations currently in play,
we are long ways from a fully matured product with Black Marble;
we still have allot of features and functions we plan on integrating,
each will bring Black Marble system closer to a more realistic representation,

XP has its respect when it comes to night lighting;
considering our specific platform of choice; Black Marble is something else!
its ground breaking and a trend setter just like Night Environment was when it first came out,

we don't use baked textures, we draw our lines from live vector data!!!
very much like XP new technology they started using just recently!

we use no textures at all; in fact we clear default textures with blank dark night texture we draw our vector over,
the only textures we use are night splash for roads after we replace the generic random night textures with blanks,
if you switch all out road classes off you will get a pitch back night!

we do have volumetric lighting with dynamic lighting (aka single color ground splash per light)
one can swap all lights to run volumetric or dynamic lighting,

future functions will allow to swap ground textures, road colors, road width and much more directly from BMM GUI,
