Matrox TH2GO Digital SE - The length of the cables

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have bought, see: http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/th2go/digital_...

I wondering if there is a limit of the length of the cables between the monitors and the Matrox unit and between the unit and the computer?

Best regard Fredrik

Fredrik,

I do not believe the length of cable would make any difference what so ever but I cannot imagine why you would want to pay extra for a long cable though. I always keep cables as short as possible.

I also bought and used temporarily, the th2go digital version and had no problems with it.

Hi

The reason for a long Displayport cable is that I want the unit close to the monitorns. There is 1 meter between the computer and the monitors!

Let see what the best solution would be?

Best Fredrik

Fredrik,

As far as I know 1 metre is not going to make 1 iota of difference. With my installation (6 monitors) I used a cable 2.00metres long with no problems.

Go your hardest young man

A quick Google gives variously 3m and 5m as the maximum reliable length for a DP cable. I discovered there's a difference between active and passive DP when I was playing with an ATI card, so depending on how long you want to go maybe you'll be safer with an active cable.
