Recommended Posts

Orbx Landclass now in FSW...YeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeHaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FSW compiled the landclass...and as Jackie Gleason used to say;  ........................"oh...how sweet it is"!

FSW is getting like a comfy and favorite chair...it keeps ROCKING, right there by the Fall fire.....acorns, pine-cones n' all!

Now going to add Europe OLC....  "and away, we gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!"

Cheers,

What a tremendous difference LandClass OLC_NA makes!   The Islands around KORS  (ORCA) no longer are merely swaths of just trees and forests. They now have fields where fields should be...and oh yes...still forests!  Wonderful..and now back to the flight...

ORBX OLC_NA in action within FSW:

FSW right now, with the built-in ORBX Global..is just forest covered terrain...trees. and more trees. As soon as I took my first post install OLC_NA flight,...wham-bam visuals.......looks as good as my FSX or P3D Global.

OLC_Europe working just as well.

BTW, these are the mountains of Washington State...inland...took off from a new-look KORS, and went inland to see what the also-installed Pilots FSX2010 Mesh looked like. It looks great.   Very happy so far with my add-ons installed...

Those screenies look great! Just goes to show that the terrain engine is actually very good, but it's data-driven. Give it better data and you get a better result. In many areas the default data is rather mediocre.

Those are looking much better than the previous set!  FSW definitely needs the ORBX touch or some other good vector/LC combo to shine. Of course, like FSX, some areas will be better than others in default.

I deleted my copy of FSX and chucked the disks years ago so have no legitimate install to point the FTX installer to, and trying to manually unzip the files is a real pain in the .... I still have all my Orbx sceneries in my account so I guess I'll just have to put on my patient pants until official support comes.

Check out my 'here's my custom scenery.cfg file' thread...all there towards the bottom 20 or so entries... :)  Use that as a guide to how I did it...but you will have to edit for syntax because of file location on your own system, and so forth..

You can port over from your ORBX P3D whatever install as well!  Just point the addresses to your Orbx Folder, blah, blah inside your Root P3D whatever...

Don't have P3d either. It's ok, if there's one thing simming has taught me over the years it's patience.
