Apart from 64bit what else does v4 bring?

Recommended Posts

Great thanks again for taking the time to reply.

I am waiting for FSL and they posted Screenshots of the new 4K VC and it looks amazing.

I think the next hot fix they are waiting for is about to hit us or it might be v4.1

To have that VC alone is worth v4 plus all your feed back has been great.

I think the speed trees are much better then the Dynamic 3D vegetation

Actually, the Dynamic 3D Vegetation is the "speed trees."  :biggrin:

I dunno why people are mad about Speed Trees 3D vegetation. It's only bad because drawing all those 3D tree models is way too much of a burden on today's hardware. Wait until LM implements 3D clouds. We'll all need a Titan Einstein Max  and an i9-9999k.

And the AG draw distance is adjustable, which can help a lot with heavy scenery...

As is the dynamic lighting. Not sure if this has ever been mentioned. There are 2 settings in the cfg file which can limit the number of dynamic lights being drawn. I haven't tested it, but it may be useful for those wanting to try out the DL.

In the cfg, look for;

MAX_POINT_LIGHTS=250
MAX_SPOT_LIGHTS=250

*LM caps the total number of Dynamic Lights at 500.

Apart from 64bit which pretty much has eliminated the OOM curse, it's like I have a new CPU with double the Ghz..  My PC is like a new

FWIW, don't think of 4.1 as a hotfix. It will be a full-feature incremental update in the life of the platform.

That notwithstanding, so many small things about v4 add up to much better performance on your current hardware. If you mirror your settings in v4, you'll be blown away by how much smoother it is.

v4 is it worth it alone for the crisp textures all the way to the horizon using the "high resolution ground textures" option in the UI.

hands down the best bit and with no perf impact

I am waiting on v3.4 as well. Not enough to warrant the upgrade yet for me. The move is inevitable though.

I have Orbx vector, global and the land class so they should be working now or shortly in v4 at no cost. The AS a320 won't work without paying a small fee and my coolsky dc9 and ifly 747 won't work for the foreseeable future if not ever. Not sure I will need to pay for them.

The only other product I have is Ezdok 1 so i guess I will need to buy the new version.

Tbh if LM go the same way as v3 and just release bug fixes and small changes in their v4 point releases I may wait for v5.

Try here for a free iFly 747 update for P3D V4. Also you can update to the new Ezdok version (beta works in P3D V4) for just $12 here.
