EnvTex and ASCA?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Last weekend I installed the updated EnvTex. I already use ASP4/ASCA.
EnvTex can be integrated with ASCA but I'm not entirely sure what settings I should use to accomplish.

In EnvText settings, I have configured the following:

  • "ASCA + EnvTex integration"
  • Cumulus: ON
  • Cirrus: ON

I'm a bit puzzled about the Cumulus & Cirrus settings. Should they be on or off in case of ASCA integration?
If on, are the EnvTex clouds being used or the ASCA clouds?

EnvTex is just like REX4 TD. It's a stand alone program that you can use to install textures in p3d/fsx.

ASCA works with ASP4 or AS16 weather engine.

When you want to use EnvTex with ASCA, you can set EnvTex to use the ONLY sky textures from EnvTex. Most people prefer the EnvTex sky textures.

To understand how ASCA modes works you need to read page 8 of your user's guide.

In "Full Dynamic Mode" ASCA will install textures & its clouds throughout the flight. In your case, if you set EnvTex to use only EnvTex textures, then that's what ASCA will use.

It would be great if ASCA could inject EnvTex clouds, but as of today that option is not available in EnvTex. So you will always see ASCA clouds.

Hope that helps.

A pilot is always learning and I LOVE to learn.
