Another Affinity Mask question

Recommended Posts

Trying to better understand how this works. Take a 4 core HT enabled CPU, with P3D V4, would I see any difference in performance using an AM:

01010101 (85 decimal)

Vs

10101010 (170 decimal)

It depends on what else is running on your CPU.  And what cores it runs on..

If you are running only P3D, no addons, I would expect the two to be the same.

The purpose of the affinity mask is to separate the P3D load from the load of addons that you may be running.

That is why 116 decimal may be better since it frees up Core0 entirely..

I've been trying to take the approach with P3D V4 as less tweaks are better.  With V3 I was trying every tweak I read on here, but with V4 I just install and enjoy.  I've had no performance issues whatsoever with this sim.

ORBX Vector, GSX, AS16, ORBX Global, Orbx PNW, and NA landclass and fspilots next generation mesh, GTN 650/750 complete, PTA2.5.2 and chaseplane.

I locked it to 30fps and it doesn't dip or stutter at all on my old 2500k

Same here with a 4770K @ 4.1.   FPS set to 30.

I have HT set to off, no Affinity Mask set for P3D, and run the GTN with CPU core=2.

Nothing here except OptimizeParts=0 so I can run ExtremeLabs Lear 2.1.

Burt, I'm using your GTN panel mod in the new Lear but the 'click frame to open in new window' no longer works. Only edit is commenting out the 650 as I don't use it.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mark

Don't even know what airplane you are referring to - sorry

With all due respect Newtie, please take your discussion another thread. This is about Affinity Mask, not the Lear. Cheers!

No these should give identical results.
In both cases you are just using one logical core of each physical core.
Sort of different sides of the same coin.
