FSX SP2?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

How can you tell if you currently have FSX's service pack 2?  I assume I do since I just downloaded FSX-SE a few months ago.  The reason I ask is because I am in the process of downloading some AI and Scenery and the specifically say that you must have the SP2 version.

Thanks in advance!

SP2 not needed for FSX-SE.  It is the equivalent of FSX+ Acceleration.

Another way of looking at it is that SP2 is incorporated into FSX Acceleration, thus for software compatibility you have it.

Best wishes.

After releasing FSX SP1, Microsoft released FSX Acceleration at a price of $19.95.  It contained updates to FSX plus some added eye-candy.  Acceleration contains DX10 Preview and everyone was totally excited to see what DX10 technology could do so many purchased Acceleration.  So, if you have the option to enable DX10 Preview, you know you have Acceleration or SP2 installed.  SP2 was released a few months after Acceleration as Microsoft wanted to make as much money as possible on the payware version.  SP2 is the freeware version of FSX Acceleration.  You cannot have both installed or you will have issues with FSX because SP2 was coded differently so that freeware users could not get the payware stuff in FSX Acceleration.

If you go to the main directory of FSX and go to FSX.exe, right click and select Properties, then the Details tab and you will see which version is installed:

FSX SP1 - 10.0.61355

FSX SP2 - 10.0.61472

FSX Acceleration - 10.0.61637
