Do more detailed definitions of the various GNS settings exist anywhere? I've looked at the User's Manual, but it doesn't go into much detail.  After successfully testing the LPV approach, I went back to test an ILS, and am running into problems.  Specifically, when selecting an ILS procedure, and tuning the corresponding ILS  frequency into the 530 V2, and setting the CDI to LOC mode, neither the localizer nor the glideslope are displaying on the Aspen, or G500/600 for that matter.  When in GPS mode (not the correct mode for an ILS approach), the localizer appears on the Aspen, but still no glideslope.  I'm sure this most likely requires changing one or more of the aforementioned settings.  But with no further definition, and essentially 128 possible combinations of on/off for each of them, I was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction.

Hi, this is quite easy once you get around it: there are 4 main groups of instruments: GPS, Autopilot, HSI, VOR

Each 'Instrument Panel' setting tells the GNS to override the entire set of simvar (SKD FS variables) for the group.

Only 1 GPS source can feed the instruments at any time, so in addition to enable a group and only when in GPS mode, the GNS overrides:

- GPS if it is the 'Master Device'.

- Autopilot if it is the 'Master Device'.

- HSI if it is the sole device connected or if it is the 'Master Device'.

- VOR if it is the sole device connected or if it is the 'Master Device'.

NB: if overrides either VOR1 or VOR2 depending on your 'VLOC Source' setting.

The issue you are having is most likely limited to a 'short sighting' in the aircraft development: in effect, since the default GPS can't drive the VCDI, a lot of 3rd party gauges/aircraft don't bother to display/move the needle when in GPS mode.

Of course, the easiest would just have been to take the HSI VCDI value regardless, because FS already zero it when in GPS mode, and our GNS override it when in GPS mode, but more often than not it is how third party gauges/aircraft are coded.

Usually then, when an EFIS gauge don't display the VCDI, it is because they are using the 'VOR' variables instead of the HSI variables, or because they hide the VCDI when in GPS mode.

You might want to compare with an aircraft using a default HSI for example instead and check it works. Better yet, you might want to 'add' a default FS HSI gauge in a popup window and compare with the EFIS.

Bump.

Any new developments? Where are you with P3DV4.*? I have flown RXP products in FSX for years. I sure am missing them in P3DV4.2.
