Official Panel Configuration Thread

Here's a pretty dirty mod to get the GNS430W v2 working in the AMAZING (yes, still amazing) Lotus L39 - Here I'm using it in P3D v4 so I've already patched my sound gauge using the Doug Dawnson 64bit dll

https://www.douglassdawson.ca/

1) Do a auto replace with the 430_1, unlike most times, DO NOT check no bezel when you add the gauge to the Vcockpit.

Shift+2 opens an oversized popup (I don't usually use those but in this case its helpful, maybe someone can find a better size).  Anyway, right click the top of the popup gauge.

Check the boxes so the gauge will drive the HSI gauge below.

2) So the clickspots....  generally they do work.  The outer and inner knobs are super touchy (I think Mike made them a bit oversized in the L39 model) so the frequencies can be tricky to get right.  But you can find them basically on the outer edges of the knobs.  Use the popup to better precision.

The mod will do LPV approaches assuming you've setup the ini file (in the sim via the check boxes)

Known issues - no night lighting on the gauge bezel in the VC - I don't know why - maybe do to 32bit addon in 64bit sim??

miniscule clickspots as discussed.

Slight error on gauge placement - the top portion of the gauge is cutoff.... meh.  Fix to your liking.

Aerosoft Twin Otter Extended (tested here in P3D v4)

38614365755_7d2c23e7c3_o.jpgastwotter_530w by ryan b, on Flickr

note:  There is one small bug - the cyan highlighted box doesn't swap when you press the comm/nav swap button.  The actual function does work though...  IOW - you can tune the nav and comm radios without issue.

Run the configurator app and just replace the VCockpit section with GNS530 1 and press no bezel.  I don't have a 2d popup setup here... since all the vc clickspots work as long as use sim commands is checked (the ini lines below have it all setup if you just copy the entire thing)

edit:  OH one more thing.  I noticed the way Aerosoft has their models setup as separate aircraft.  I happened to setup the GNS530 in the root "base" model (the 300 wheels).  If you setup the GNS in say the amphib version...  when you run the RXP auto replace you'll want to find a line in the Vcockpit that references TW GPS...

So for clarity (and a sort of manual install)....If you're having a hard time using the RXP auto replace function you'll need to change gauge10 under VCockpit01 from:

gauge10=../SimObjects/Airplanes/Aerosoft_DHC6_300_WHEEL/Panel/TW_GPS

TO:

gauge10=rxpGNS2!GNS_530_1, 4, 4,332,248,NO_BEZEL

RXP GNS 430, 530, RXP GPS 400 for A2A C182

Here are the panel files for setting up the GNS 430, 530, Dual, GPS 400 in the A2A C182 panel using the C182 Aircraft Configurator_P3D app.

A2A182_RXPGNS_panel.zip

First things first. Backup original panel config files:
panel_default.cfg
panel_MINDSTAR_430.cfg
panel_MINDSTAR_530.cfg
panel_MINDSTAR_dual.cfg.

4 panel_MINDSTAR_***.cfg and panel_default.cfg files go in the A2A182 panel folder.

RealityXP.GNS.ini goes in the main aircraft folder; SimObjects\Airplanes\A2A_C182

Use C182 Aircraft Configurator_P3D app to install gauges. Choose the Mindstar selection 430, 530, both etc. Select default to install the RXP GPS400.

Incidentally you can use the C182 Aircraft Configurator_P3D app while the aircraft is loaded. Aircraft will reload after making your choice of Garmin unit.

COMING SOON... GNS, GTN Configurations for A2A 172, 182, & the 250 Comanche.

Carenado Cessna CT206H Stationair GNS 530 Alignment

This one is a little different as the default Carenado GPS 500 has animated knobs built into the model of the cockpit and sort of interferes with the cursor and radio swap click spots on the two knobs. Therefore you have to run the RXP530.exe file located in the "SimObjects\Airplanes\Carenado CT206H_Stationair" folder. Then you can replace the GPS by using the built in Reality XP in-sim editor then adding the alignment coordinates below:

[Vcockpit01]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=512,512
visible=0
pixel_size=513,513
texture=$Panel_1

gauge00=rxpGNS2!GNS_530_1, 10, 0,500,366
gauge01=CT206H!ToggleCARG1000,      0, 0, 32 ,  16

A2A C172 configuration for the GNS 430/530.
https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/532681-a2a-c172-rxp-gns-430530/

Also includes the GTN 650/750. This setup allows the use of the A2A C172 Aircraft Configurator app.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/6w13lx8ams1e7fh/A2A_C172_RXP_GTN_GNS.zip?dl=0

The following instructions are included in the ZIP file.

First things first. BACKUP the following files in the A2A 172 panel folder.
panel_default.cfg
panel_F1_650.cfg
panel_F1_750.cfg
panel_F1_dual.cfg
panel_MINDSTAR_430.cfg
panel_MINDSTAR_530.cfg
panel_MINDSTAR_dual.cfg

Important:
Regarding the panel_default.cfg file (if you DO NOT own the RXP GNS430 do not copy this file). This file provided in the package will install the RXP GPS400 and replace the default A2A GPS400. Otherwise if you own the GNS430 copy it to the panel folder.
The RXP GPS400 is included with the GNS430.

If you don't own all the RXP gauges, still install all .cfg files, this way if you decide to purchase additional RXP gauges the above files will be in place and ready to go.

Copy (Extract) the contents of this package to the \A2A\SimObjects\Airplanes\ folder.

You should now have the above .cfg files in the A2A172 panel folder, and 2 files; RealityXP.GNS.ini and RealityXP.GTN.ini in the main \A2A_C172 folder. These last 2 files are necessary for the popup gauges to work properly.

You may now use the C172 Aircraft Configurator app to install the gauge(s) of your choice.
For the RXP GTN 650/750 select the F1 650, 750, or both.
For the RXP GNS 430/530 select the MS 430, 530, or both.

As noted above if you own the GNS430 you can select default to install the GPS400.

Here's a mod to get the GNS530wV2 in the Baytower RV7 with working clickspots (P3D only - not tested in anything else).  It also addresses the inop gtx327 (that would usually crash P3D v4).  Credits also to Bert Pieke for the gtx327 mod and initial clickspot coding!

Place the rxp ini in the Vans_RV7 root folder and the rest in the panel.RV7_tip folder (backup originals).

FILE: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8uikmdvduo2p4i0/RXPGNSv2mod_panel.RV7_tip.zip?dl=0

It's then easy to make your own config for the rest of the variants.

If you want this mod try this new link (again this is for the RV7 (tail dragger)/Tip up - you can easily view the files and mod the rest of the variants though:

Which simulator?  Which GNS v2 gauge?

Would you please indicate what steps you have completed so far based on the instructions in the guide?  From ;your system desktop. left click the Windows icon at the bottom left corner of your monitors screen, scroll the resulting list of your installed programs to the R's. Select ReailityXP and from the drop down start GNS Users Manual.

@tjsratman
1. Run the CAR_XP.exe first.
2. Copy and paste the entire contents of the following panel.cfg. This includes popup click spot for the Carenado G500. Click spot is top border (bezel). Also for the GNS units.
I also have a configuration for the REX Advantage weather radar (not included in this setup).
