March 1, 200620 yr I'm just getting back into FS2004, and really looking to take the plunge with Ground Environment. I think my subject line says it well - if I buy Ground Environment today, would I be eligible for a free upgrade that would make Ground Environment compatible/updated to work with MS Flight Sim 10? Regards, Steve
March 1, 200620 yr too early to say.At the moment it's not even certain if GE will be made to work with FSX, it may not be needed or (if needed) possible without an investment that would be impossible for the creator to pay for.But history shows that MOST addons that are made compatible with a new version of FS will provide that upgrade free of charge or for a token amount (especially compared with the full price).
March 1, 200620 yr Somewhere in the developer's information I'm sure I read that purchasing GE 2006 ensures that a version will be provided which will be compatible with FSXGary
March 1, 200620 yr Author Well, could we get some indisputable confirmation on that? If it's a yes, I will be purchasing your product ASAP.
March 1, 200620 yr I asked Peter Wilding that very question here at AVSIM forums. There is a whole thread on this if you do a search. Here is his reply:"To be honest it's too early to say. I mean by this we will do everything we can to to make them work with FSX and if that means making some more textures or tweaking them we'll do that.I certainly don't like charging customers extra for just a few tweaks. What we don't know yet is that what we are going to have to do to get the best from FSX?We may need to make a completely new package or modify just parts of it.At the very least there will be a significant discount to exitsting customers and at best there will be no charge. It's really going to depend on when the customers buy our product, when FSX comes out and what is needed to get the best out of the product.I can see a possible outcome that we'll have various pacakages and options that may be a simple rework FREE and a more robust advanced package that will get more out of FSX?It's really going to be dependant on many things right now and to be fair if it needs 200 man hours to fix it's a lot differnet to 20,000. All I can say is we'll make sure we do eveything we can to give the customer some great value for money. For example: I've updated FE twice and more than doubled the quantiy of clouds and made no extra change for this. We'll be doing something free with GE too."
March 1, 200620 yr Author Well geez, that's pretty enticing now, isn't it. Well, I think I'm going to go for it then. I've always been extremely impressed with Flight1 from their products to their support - so I may pull the trigger on this one within the next few days. That is really more than a satisfactory and fair answer, IMHO. Regards, Steve
