Quick question about P3D V4 RAM occupancy

Recommended Posts

Guest

Hi P3D V4 owners, could you please tell me your average and top ( 5 seconds of task manager I mean, quick ) RAM occupancy assuming :

a PMDG/third party bird, ORBX, ASN/ASCA and REX 4096 txs overcast, AI Traffic plugin, ATC plugin, third party airports and P3D V4 set on top/high details flying low over a big airport like or New York or a big city downton.

possibly @ 4k or your top res.

I am 99,9% 16 GB are much more than enough but just to be sure my new rig will be properly equipped.

Thanks a lot in advance !

If you can wait I can have a flight today (in about 4 or 5 hours) over NY with the Drezei***** (no clue how you spell them) NY airports, in a PMDG plane, with FTX Global, NA, Vector, AS16 etc.

But maybe someone is faster than me :-)

Seriously? As long as I do not see reduced performance, I could not care less about how many of my 16GB RAM are full or empty...

P3Dv4 works with 4 GB although their product specifications recommend 16 GB(https://www.prepar3d.com/system-requirements/).  I typically see about 6GB of working memory with Process Explorer without AI Traffic but with lots of weather, addon scenery and mesh.

Thanks downscc

@ swiesma you/everybody are still on time :)

@ AnkH : LOL I don't care about RAM occupancy too, I just want to know if 16GB are enough or if I have to consider 32GB for a new rig, therefore the question.

If you can afford it why not future-proof the rig and go for 32 GB of quad channel RAM (assuming your motherboard supports it).  CPU speed increases seem stalled out so it is conceivable that the PCs purchased today will still be relevant 4-5 years later (just keep swapping out the GPU every couple of generations).

So this was in the PMDG 777, with Drzew... NY Airports, going low over Manhattan in very cloudy weather with rain, ORBX Vector, NA, etc:

Edit: Fail you cannot see P3D.exe on the left, it was at about 12 GB.
