Missing stuff like certain LOCs

There is no entry like that at all in the panel.cfg of the A2A Comanche. I only see entries like 'gauge11=gps!gps_500' and nothing with .cab

The cab files are the actual gauges in the gauges directory, When i get back from my trip I will PM you the correct name to add to the Panel.cfg

Just to clarify one point. The P3d  CAB versions of the default gauges will recognize SIDs and STARs, but only if the airport BGL file has them built in. 3rd party airports almost always have them included but fsaerodata is needed to update every other airport in P3d.

The best implementation is either to use an airliner with Navigraph or a smaller aircraft with the Flight1 GTN 750. That combined with fsaerodata gives the most realistic simulation of navigation and communication. The next step up is adding a 3rd party ATC add-on like Pilot2ATC. Finally, at the summit is VOXATC, which also controls and communicates with AI aircraft.

But... the Flight1 GTN750 doesn't use FSaerodata so that one will still be out of sync. So in that regard the default GPS would fit better (or perfectly) into the updated sim world. At least as far as navdata is concerned.

This is the main reason I didn't get the GTN yet: if it would use Navigraph/FSaerodata I would have bought it already. I hate it when things are out of sync. As it is now FSaerodata is an absolute must have for me right now (I am only in doubt if I should update everything once or if I should get a Navigraph subscription).

Jeroen,

Yes, the coverage has increased dramatically with the new system. If you'd like you can check yourself, it is an open beta. Here are download links and info for the new apps. The screenshot is from the Desktop app. Norway has 51 airports in the new system compared to 23 before.

Cheers,

Stephen

One more question: the site says the beta is open during July and August. Is it still open during September? I don't want to take a subscription only to find out the beta is closed or will be closed at any time soon. I only want a subscription if I am sure I can keep on using the Jeppesen charts all the time as long as I have a subscription.

Of course! The beta has spilled a few days into September now, but nevertheless, the beta continues until the final release which is due soon, so you can use the Jeppesen charts continuously from now on.

Regards,

Stephen

I think the July/August time frame was for the beta versions of the Android and iPad apps. The online beta access via web browser is still working this morning (September 3rd). Of course, you already need an active Navigraph charts subscription to access it.

I'm pretty sure that access to Jeppesen charts will be a given going forward - It appears Navigraph has committed to Jeppesen for the long term. Though the Lido charts they have been using up until now are of better quality graphically speaking IMO, I think Jeppesen is a better fit as the number of airports covered appears to be much larger.

Plus Jeppesen has always been supportive of the flight sim community. They used to sell flight sim versions of their chart products directly. It's probably not entirely altruistic on their part. Especially among the younger members of the FS community, today's flight simmers may well become tomorrow's professional pilots, and it's never too soon to instill "brand loyalty".
