March 7, 200620 yr Moderator >>>>>but there is no gauge polygon<<<<>>What does this mean? Can't you put anything there?Andy, once again this thread really should have been in the appropriate forum, but I'll try to explain what is meant by the above. In the "Virtual Cockpit" of any model, the designer must supply a surface on which the gauge will be "projected." Think of it as you would a movie screen on which a film is projected. This surface is called a "polygon" in "modeling language..." ;) This polygon must also have a texture associated with it with an appropriate name, such as $vc_01.bmp in order for FS to know that it is to be used as a "projection screen" for a gauge.Modelers may assign (UVW Map) an entire panel, or portion of a panel to a specific $vc_xx texture...or they may use what I call the "cookie cutter technique" wherein all the gauges have their own, unique polygons that're precisely sized and shaped for that specific gauge...or they may choose to use a combination of both techniques!Which, of course, is why I earlier said that there's no "one size fits all" answer to the OP's question... ;) Fr. March 7, 200620 yr Hi Bill,I had bitten off more than I could chew when I altered JK's panel and it's pure luck that it worked out. Thanks for your reply.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/144245.jpgoriginal panelhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/144246.jpgvc after my ministrations. In fact there were already gauges in the gaps, but they didn't start to show until 2 weeks after I'd added my replacements!Andy.
