Hey guys 

I have had 1600 mhz 2x8gb sticks 

Running fine with xmp mode

I7 4790k stock 4ghz turbo 4.4

 

Now have 2400mhz

Setting xmp mode pc wont boot into windows

If i set optimise default

It boots thou only 1333mhz

How can i run my ram at 2400??

Asus vi extreme mobo z87

850w psu

2xtitan sc 6gb each sli

Ssd etc etc

Try increase CPU voltage a bit. Mine is set to 1.225v at 4.5Ghz (YMMV). I have same cpu and 32gb 2400 ddr3.

Why would increasing the CPU voltage do anything to the RAM? See if the RAM requires a higher (non-standard) voltage to run at 2400Mhz.

Also, can you clock the RAM at 2133Mhz and see if it boots?

maybee the memory controller of your cpu is not able to run memory at 2400.

another option is that your board is not compatible with your memory.

did you check that?

i had this issiue once.  

you can also try if your system boots with one ram module.

check recomended voltage on the sticks 1.65v ? if you have 1.5v probly not boot.

then you have another voltages dont rember vcca or someting 

that mobo was very good at mems , i was running 2800mhz c10 with a 4770k on that board.

its was a some years ago 

good luck , shall not be any problems with 2400mhz think 99.9% of the haswell cpus did that

You might have to manually configure the BIOS for the new memory (safer to do a manual config anyway).

I haven't checked your motherboard, but it may not have an XMP for your memory.  If not, you'll have to configure the memory settings by hand in the BIOS.  The upside is... fast mem XMP's for the Z87 motherboards sometimes did goofy (and bad) things to CPU settings (like increasing voltages).  The safe bet on your Z87 board is to configure the memory yourself (which it seems you may have to do anyway for lack of an XMP).

It does have an xmp profile only 1

2400mhz

Tried manually adding voltage and timings and same thing itll keep rebooting

Perhaos cpu voltage does need to be raised??

Not infront of my pc atm but will try increaseing.the cpu voltage i have read in other forums

Oh and my ram is seated in slots a1 and b1

2 red slots

This may sound like a silly question but how stable is your PSU in terms of voltage 850W is ok but if you intend OC always buy good quality at lest gold standard, unstable voltage will cause a reboot even when set correctly.

Did you try ASUS  AI 3 Suite to overclock it will find the limit you can go to.
