Blurries / Pop ups

Recommended Posts

Recently I have been having trouble with blurries and popups but can't figure out what could be the cause.  I never noticed them before recently and haven't messed around with my settings too much.  The only thing I can possibly think of would be that I just upgraded to a Dell Ultrasharp U3415 curved widescreen.  I bumped the resolution in the sim to the highest so maybe that is a cause?  Or something in my graphics card?  My specs and settings are follows:

Win 10

Intel 7th Gen Core i7 7700K (4.7GHz Overclock) Quad Core

16gb mem

6GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060, PCI Express 3.0

500GB Samsung EVO 850 Solid State Drive

sliders mostly right, 19m texture distance, 8 x MSAA, 16 x AA, highest resolution

Orbx Vector, North America LC, Orbx Global, US payware airports, PMDG 737/747, PTA, Active Sky and ASCA, Rex Textures

What else can I provide to see what could be causing this?  This only started happening recently.  The pop ups will either be autogen trees or full tiles of scenery.  I won't be able to double check settings or get a screenshot until after work, but would love any advise or things I should be looking for.  All airports I have are very clear and sharp.  Thanks

And by "blurry" I mean it looks like the textures or autogen hasn't fully loaded yet.  Could that have something to do where the priorities are in the library?

video card, 8xmsaa and higher resolution coupled with high settings = blurry popups.

You need to fins the balance between performance and visual that makes you happy.

With a higher resolution you may not need 8xmsaa, etc. It's trial and error. There is nothing wrong with your system, you have just overloaded it a bit.

Thanks.  Do you think the resolution setting or MSAA is more of the culprit?  I guess I can try to mess around with it tonight.  In all honesty I don't even know what MSAA really does/is.

Either or. It's a balance you are looking for. MSAA is multisample antialiasing which essentially sharpens up your image. It does this by processing the frame at a higher resolution and down sampling to your resolution which simply put - take more processing power - more stress on system.

I'd cut it to 4msaa and see how it goes.

Might be worth seeing if there are drivers for the dell monitor, and make sure you're using display-port cable (not HDMI or DVI).  Couldn't hurt to reinstall your graphics card drivers too...

With the card I have, are there any graphics card drivers that I should avoid?  I believe I am using HDMI.  I thought that was always the best connection.  Maybe I can get a cheap displayport cable.

Monoprice.com is a great place for quality and inexpensive cables.

The latest geforce drivers (385.41) are working well for me in P3Dv4, I have a GTX1080 (not ti, but should be okay).

Dumb question but is it the resolution on the monitor itself causing this or the setting in the sim (or both)?  Are there any settings I should be messing with on the video card to make sure it matches the sim?

I have a Dell Ultrasharp monitor 34" and it is set at 3440x1440.  That is the native.  In P3d I have it set to 3440x1440x32 in the display settings. Texture res is Ultra and I just switched down to 4xMSAA.

That's he correct resolution for your monitor. Try dropping the texture resolution down. With the 4K monitor you shouldn't really need them.

I'd leave the monitor and in sim resolution alone - adjust the msaa, texture resolution and test.

I think that did the trick! Thanks
