Well OOMs are another issue and probably not related to the boxes you are seeing but you can find plenty of info on their cause and the things you can do to decrease them here on Avsim. If by "another system" you mean another platform to decrease the chance of OOMs then you need to look at 64-bit platforms such as P3Dv4. 

With regard to the boxes you are seeing, you don't by any chance have any Ultimate Terrain X areas installed as these also contain street lights which I guess could cause problems with Orbx lights if they are both active?
