GLS LOC?

Recommended Posts

With AIRAC 1710 + EDDF payware scenery, I noticed there's appr option call GLSX07L and many like this.

I select that and turn on APP button, but it doesn't be localized.

I searched the forum, it seems PMDG's all product(737/747/777) doesn't implement GLS capability.

So why there are GLS options, just because of AIRAC updates?

just because of AIRAC updates?

short answer: yes.

The GBAS landing system is quite new and it's not implemented on PMDG airplanes. Frankfurt indeed has been using GBAS since 2014.

Maybe we will see it on the 747-8? Who knows :D

Have in mind not all aircraft are certified for gbas. As far as I know 744 is not one of them.

afaik not even the 777 can be equipped with it. Though it's an option for most Airbus models and it's standard on the 747-8 and 787.

some info as to how it works procedurally

the A350 and 747-8 is certified to GLS approach.

The technology has been demonstrated during flight tests to allow CAT III autoland . And effectively solve the ILS signal inference problem in LVO operations.
