MY cop wife uses an ASP to...encourage...me.

ASP?

/æsp/

noun

- venomous snake, probably Naja haje (Egyptian cobra), that caused the death of Cleopatra and was formerly used by the Pharaohs as a symbol of their power over life and death See also uraeus

- Also called asp viper. a viper, Vipera aspis, that occurs in S Europe and is very similar to but smaller than the adder

- horned asp, another name for horned viper...

Under such a threat I would be most encouraged to do whatever she wanted, immediately without hesitation, murmur or complaint.

Kind regards,

Stephen

PS:

Man, am I bored!

So when is LM going to do this thing anyway so I can stop compulsively reading and writing in these stupid kind of threads?

Sorry but

Sorry but what is ASP? As a developer I am thinking of Active Server Pages which I have now idea why that would work 😂😂

I expect early October for 4.1 but they aren't saying. Patience is a virtue but it CAN be difficult.

Not sure I care with no Changelog and I have no beefs with the current v4 release anyhow...I can wait...

Honestly, I think people should take the "Take questions regarding VR and AR questions in this session" with a grain of salt...

Quite frankly I don't see how LM would/could implement AR into P3D?!
(Unless I have complete misunderstood the concept)

Just on the VR thing: I returned my Rift after some days because it sucks. Too low resolution. Not good to wear.

The immersion is great but most of the time you need a keyboard when doing flights on vatsim in tubeliners. And charts and stuff....

So VR is also not for me.

Well I was nonplussed about this, but the VR focus has me intrigued.

Personally I use VR as a sort of hybrid - generate flightplans and setup cockpit in 2D, change to VR for taxi, takeoff and depature, then 2D for cruise, back to VR for landing and taxi

VFR almost 100% VR

You can use mouse in VR BTW, I believe (from a post in their forums) that LM are hoping to make this much better in the next release. You have to close your right eye currently for the mouse to line up

Flyinside is better for VR, but native VR provides the opportunity to switch to 2D as you need/want to and remove your headset

I agree that VR, whilst not perhaps THE future for flightsims, is certainly a large part of it

With a next gen higher resolution hardware release, IMO it would create an environment superior to a home cockpit

Yup, that's what I was thinking too. And they are officially announcing that they are going to announce something too (officially). Why not just announce it instead of announcing that they are going to announce it?

For me the VR implementation currently on P3Dv4 is really good as it allows me to seamlessly go in and out of VR-mode. If they can just solve the ASW/FPS/Cursor problems, I would not even install the upcoming Flyinside plugin. Hopefully XP11 will also adopt this type of implementation in the upcoming VR update.

As for the nay-sayers, there are always those that are just more comfortable sticking to their old tricks and methods, instead of embracing change and challenging yourself to do things differently. Only then you can really move forward. This is valid to everything in life.

At last, this is an expensive hobby. Saying that they should not invest in VR because some people cannot afford an Oculus or Vive is rubbish. Their focus is on training and nothing comes even close to the immersion that you get when flying in VR.

What hold me back from using VR so far was the fact that

1. you need nearly twice as much FPS as in single monitor mode

2. you cannot read your physical charts (e.g. the ones at the iPad) anymore (you would have to put down your glasses for it, not convenient if you are taxiing at a big airport).

Chris

Agree.

VR is at best, an experience.  It is by no means a practical alternative to our current way of flightsimming - yet.

As for 4.1 -  even if there are only improvements to further enhance lighting performance, I'll be happy.

VR for me, has been exceptional and I use it when I want to. Sometimes I will a flight with a monitor exclusively, sometimes in VR exclusively, and sometimes it is a mix of VR and monitor on the same flight. VR is a great addition to flight simulation and I can see it really being a large part of the simulation experience for many people now and in the future. Works great when you assign keyboard commands to a HOTAS and as has been mentioned before, there are apps that provide voice activated commands. I must say that the first time I tried VR for flight sim, I was shocked with what I saw and experienced.
