I have to say, I'm really excited for this release. The SAAB is a fantastic aircraft, and I've always enjoyed flying on them, and I've had plenty of opportunity to do so working for PenAir.

I do hope that if anything, they get the sound right. The 340 has a sound that is diffren t from any other turboprop aircraft out there, and it would be a shame if it wasn't done correctly. That being said, carenado tends to do a pretty good job with sounds, so i have faith.

The systems, at least from the Saabs we have in BOS, which aren't FMS based, seem to be pretty simple in terms of navigation, so I'm sure they won't be a problem. Knowing Carenado makes more asthetic, sim lite aircraft, im not expecting too detailed of a systems model, but ill certainly be putting my money down for this one.

+1. The Saab's sounds are incredibly unique, especially that low growl it has when the props are brought in and out of beta during taxi kind of like the Q400 only a lot more 'throaty'. Unfortunately, the LES Saab and the TSS soundpack for MSFS haven't gotten this quite right. If Carenado can nail it I won't feel as bad about any systems deficiencies.

Don't forget the Aero Commander (both the Shrike and the Turbo 690B). They're two real hits, at least for me!.

Cheers, Ed

I Agree, both aircraft are best of best carenado, 500S 690B, at least for me, just that two planes. I'm not interested in saab or any regional airliner, why just let this big work to another company and let focused in their fleet GA, to many planes that will be great for FS (Queen Air, Cessna 402, BE100, F90, Cessna 414, 425,)  along others. .

It will certainly be an interesting test for Carenado to see if they are successful in developing a bigger aircraft like the 340B, for sure.

Hi Folks,

What's the nav source on a SAAB ? FMC ?

Regards,

Scott

The ones i flew did not have a fms. They had a gps that was only used to go direct from A to B. The airline did not have gps approach approval but then this was almost 20 years ago for me.
