P3Dv4 VA Frustration with 737NGX

Recommended Posts

Folks,

I've about had it with this and am praying for a solution soon.  Sometimes I can get this to work and other times it wont.  As you can see from the log I am using the latest BETA ( 11639 ) and can make a connection but can only see the Connected to VAInterface Ver...  but thats is where it stays.  I've tried every combination from "run as admin" to loading a default plane first and still getting stuck at this screen.  My log listed below does show some simconnect errors which I have no idea what they mean or if that is actually the problem.   Does anyone out there have any clues or if you can tell me what sequence you are using to get this damn thing to work ?

Tony

It's hit-or-miss for me. I usually see the same thing you do and try a bunch of different things to get it to work. Then it starts working for no apparent reason. Like you, I wish I could come up with a reliable set of steps that will get it to work every single time. I'm thinking of just ditching VA for good and going with Mark Foti's CDU.

Did you find any kind of install doc for Foti's CDU ?  I want to try it too.

Look 4 forums below this one (Remote CDU). You should find everything you need there. I have the NGX and the 747 CDUs; they work flawlessly. Now I'm thinking of buying the 777 as well.

Glad to help. And I don't really use the browser. I've saved it as a home screen app as described here: https://www.maketecheasier.com/save-web-page-as-home-screen-app-ios/

That way I don't have the address bar at the top, only the small status bar which is easy to ignore.

Awesome - thanks for this.  I also added the following to my EXE.xml so it would load on startup.  Works like a champ.

  <Launch.Addon>
    <Name>SimServer</Name>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>
    <Path>E:\RemoteCDU\Simserver.exe</Path>
  </Launch.Addon>

Thanks again bud - see you in the skies.

Tony,

I've also added SimServer to my EXE.xml, and it launches...problem is that SimServer doesn't unload when I close P3Dv4.1. I have to quit SimServer manually...do you also have to quit SimServer manually?

Yeah, it does the same for me.  Not too much of a bother as I'm usually shutting down my PC or just leave the tiny app running until I do.  Also,  if it's running when you launch P3D is just tells you that its still running but causes no harm.

Going to look into using FSUIPC.  I'll let you know.

Steven,

Was able to use FSUIPC and get it to start and stop.  You do need a registered version of FSUIPC to do this.

Add to your FSUIPC ini file....

[Programs]
RunIf1=KILL,E:\RemoteCDU\Simserver.exe    < put in your path of course >

Working for me.

Let me know,

Tony

Tony,

I have the registered FSUIPC, but for some reason, it won't unload for me. I copied the path from my EXE.xml to make sure it is correct in FSUIPC.ini, but still can't get it to unload.

I'm running P3Dv4.1, and I'm using FSUIPC 5.1.2.102 (5.121b) which is the most current version.

Regards

Did you remove it from your EXE.xml ?  If not - do so which lets FSUIPC handle it.  Just tested mine again and its definitely shutting down.

The doc which describes this feature is located in FSUIPC5 for Advanced Users.  I first tried CLOSE but that didn't work.  Then I used KILL and that was the trick.  Try again and let me know.

Tony,

You've been a tremendous help...NO, I hadn't removed it from EXE.xml...lol. Once I did that, all good. I even added some additional items: TrackIR5; and EZdoc. Works great!

I read the FSUIPC Advanced User information on launching applications, and it was pretty straightforward.

You're correct that CLOSE won't work for SimServer...not sure why, because it works for TrackIR, and EZdoc. For some reason, SimServer is a challenge for FSUIPC to kill. It always closes, but it usually takes a long time.

Thanks
