P3D v4 & the JS-41

Recommended Posts

I am delighting in the realization that all my Orbx airports in Alaska and the PNW (which BTW are now working beautifully with the latest ObjectFlow) will be suitable destinations for the J-41 in addition to my beautiful DC-6.  When I want oil on my jeans, I can have that... and when I want something else, I can have that too.... I left Yakutat for Juneau this morning and wanted to share a few shots of the J-41 in Prepar3d v4.... BE SURE TO CLICK FOR 4K.

Damn.  Looks like I was wrong.  Where's the FMC?

That old FMC is replaced with a GPS with an option to add the Flight1 GTN750.

I thought PMDG always improved its product when releasing updates.  This is a step backwards!

That is an opinion.  In my opinion the GTN750 is much more capable than the original FMC, which wasn't even certified for GPS/GNSS approaches.  In reality, current operators of this aircraft have for the most part done what PMDG is doing and is part of the decision.

Not really. The real world JS41 fleet is retrofired as well with new avionics and they are ditching the GNS. The airplane PMDG chose to simulate is one of the upgraded ones.

Huge disappointment not to have the original FMC. This would have been a definite purchase for me, but now I'll need to think about it.

And yes, I understand that real JS41 are being retrofitted. But the "unique" avionics suite the earlier release simulated was a big part of the charm.

Stoked to hear I can use my GTN750, awesome bit of kit!

I don't know much about this aircraft but I love short haul regional planes.  Is it comparable to the Q400 in terms of distance and types of routes?
