FSX SE crashes on startup

Anyone know a fix for this error?

Click on Settings (in the Start Menu), Update and Security>Windows Update>Troubleshoot.  There are many, including me, who cannot get Windows Update as the Registry or something got messed up.  If the troubleshooter sees this, it will fix it and you will suddenly see updates are available.
