Does LINDA remember USB ports?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I have programmed 3 button boxes in LINDA.(and a throttle quadrant and yoke/rudder pedals)

Today, I had to sort out some wiring on one of them and had to unplug all devices from USB. After I plugged them all back in LINDA had jumbled them.

i.e switches on box 1 were now showing as box 2 in LINDA.

In an effort to put it right I changed the USB plugs around. Hey presto the next time I started the sim and

LINDA they were back to normal.

So my question is - Do my  joystick/button box cables always have to be plugged into the same USB port? Or was this just an initiation glitch?

NB. I noticed that this was mentioned in the "Almost Aviation" videos on the "Tube" too.

cheers

Stinger

Hi Stringer

LINDA uses the vendor and product codes (VID & PID) to match USB devices to the saved assignments. It is Windows that treats a device plugged into different USB ports as unique devices. It is these changes that can cause your setup to become jumbled. I am unsure why and it may be due to FSUIPC’s handling of these unique devices. You are correct in saying that it highly recommended that you use the same port for each device to avoid problems.

Thanks for the reply Andrew. I'll mark up my cables.
