John, how does this ortho scenery appear at night? Does it automatically generate light maps for the cities and road or just appear pitch black?

If you create the ortho4xp scenery with the default X-plane overlay, which is easy to do, you will get all of the fabulous dynamic X-plane night lighting including vehicle traffic and street lights that aren't just floating orbs, but actual modeled lights that shine down on and illuminate the ground. I think John is using the overlay in this set. If you don't create the overlay, you won't get the lights.

Beautiful shots John.  It looks like you are using the overlay this time.  How do like it?

The overlay covers most of the scenery, but for some reason it didn't cover the eastern stretch of my scenery project. I suppose that is due to what Ortho4XP finds in the Global scenery directory.  I only wanted to do two projects, one in Phoenix and one in Northern CA, but I might do another.  Wish I could package up this scenery for all of you and put it in the library, but I don't have the bandwidth to upload something that large.  I have a post in another forum describing the steps I used to create the scenery, and it's not bad for a two hour project at the '16 resolution that I chose, which is comparable to MSE/FSX/P3D.  The Cirrus is a good aircraft for this type of scenery, it covers the land well and it's a good perch at FL240 for screenshots.  There is a marked stutter sometimes when panning around the scenery, unlike P3d which is perfectly fluid with such scenery.  But it doesn't intrude that much.  In Xplane11 I really like the rendering to about 40 miles out or so, at greater distances P3d I feel is better.  The great thing about supporting both sims is I get to practice scenarios specific to one sim over the other, so both sims get equal play when I have my hobby time.

The scenery made with that program. does it automatically change seasons in the sim or is it one flavor all year long?

No seasons, just one flavor, Ortho4XP uses sat. photos, so whatever the season was when they did the mapping, that's the season you have.
