KORD Scenery

Recommended Posts

Greetings all!

I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for scenery for KORD (FSX-SE), payware or freeware?

Thanks,

Scott

Ray Smith's freeware is very good.  It's in the AVSIM library.  I have FSDT KORD and it is very dated (missing runways), although they are working on an update.

Does Ray Smith's freeware cover the missing runways?

The AVSIM Library has a lot of updates and scenery for KORD - https://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=kord&CatID=fsx&Go=Search.  This includes missing runways and stuff.

It does.  I also use it in P3dv4.

I thought that the FSDT version is already up to date with the latest AFCAD?

It is not. They are planning a new version, but it may very well be for P3D only.

No it's not. The newest one has 27R/9L runways but that's it.

Yes. FSDT is doing a complete remake of KORD as their next scenery. But it's going to be Prepar3D V4 ONLY.

Please see quote from Umberto below:

Quote

Yes, FSX it totally dead for us, but development of this scenery began way before we even knew of the existence of P3D V4, so it wasn't designed as a V4 native product (although it runs FAR better with it and many important parts of it, like the ground textures, are made with the P3D SDK), which means it can still run in FSX. But it will be our last product for FSX. The next one ( KORD remake ), will be remade totally from scratch, using only the Prepar3D 4 SDK and exploiting its unique features, which means it will run so much better, and it won't be possible to make an FSX version out of it. Other developers are in a similar situation: nobody has released a "real" 100% P3D V4 scenery by now (or an airplane), because V4 has been around for a few months only, and even those of us that were in the Beta program, only got it a few months earlier, some things were finally fixed only with 4.1, and everybody already had sceneries which were very close to be released, so we only adapted what we had to run in all sim, but nobody has seen a real, proper, 100% native P3D V4 scenery (not JUST compiled with the 4.1 SDK, but USING all its features) yet.

Best regards,

I removed FSDT KORD and will wait until the next version sometime next year.  The P3DV4.1 default looks nice but it is missing Runway 10R/28L, 10L/28R, and 10C/28C.
