graphis load question

Recommended Posts

Hi again,

I am using P3D v4.1.  My cpu is not that greatest (i7 980x extreme) but I am using an nVidia gtx 1080 video card.  When adjusting my settings I try to keep cpu intensive items set toward the conservative side but turn up those things that I think are more video card intensive.  A couple of things happened that make me think this may be more complex than my approach has been.  I was wondering if for example, I started using very high resolution clouds, even though the video card is adequate, does this also put a strain on the cpu?   I know 64 bit simming is starting to shift more to the video card, but is the cpu still working hard on the stuff you would think the video card is now handling?  I hope this makes sense, I may need to readjust my plan of attack.

Thanks,

LouP

You have to remember that a really powerful GPU needs a pretty powerful CPU.  If not the GPU will end up "waiting" on the CPU and this can be seen by low GPU usage but High CPU usage.
