Do you always know where to start ?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone ,

Just a little question regarding finding the right gate at "some" payware airfields.

The numbers and letters not always just fit to the gates inside P3Dv4 (or earlier versions for that matter)

Why is it so hard for developers to line this up so i know where to start and finish ?

Right now i am at KSDF and was planning to do a flight between KSDF and KSLC as UPS(5x) 3846 in a 744BCF but i am lost where to start ?

Anyone else having these kind of challenges ?

btw . Latest scenery from FSDT

What "gate" should i try ?

Thanks

Michael Moe

I think, IIRC, this was addressed in a post regarding FSDT airport add-ons as I too have found their Afcad gate labelling  quite confusing.

A search might bring up that thread.

Thanks but what does IIRC meens ? Apreciated

This is not just related to FSDT - I was just reaching out to my fellow simmers and to the developers to point if we can improve this inside P3Dv4 ?

Thanks

Hi Folks,

I may sound like a broken record - but Alex's Little NavMap - if you zoom in on the map - all the airports are fully drawn on the map by his program and the gates are clearly labeled and sized - would that help ? The data is obtained from the sim itself and drawn for each airport so it should match 100%...

Regards,

Scott

Hi Scott

Thanks for the suggestions but this question is relative to your decision at the P3DV4 menu when you choose airport and then gate etc.

Thanks

Sorry Michael I would love to help but I don't have that airport.

Sometimes I look at the airport in google earth to get a sense of what parks where and then slew to an appropriate gate.

Sorry, Michael. That's the only set of airports I get that issue of all the gates being Ramp Large.

I had this same question because of course the first thing I wanted to do with my new KSDF is fly a UPS B744F to PANC.  Normally, I'll check google earth to see who is parked where on the cargo ramps and that works most of the time.  One might have to go back a history a few frames but it generally works.  Unfortunately, I was able to find a four-holer in any of the frames for KSDF so I did the next best thing, I opened the airport file with ADE and looked to see if any particular spots were larger.  Nope.  What I ended up doing was selecting stand D4 for easy access.   BTW I'm not sure you'll find any B744s at KSLC.
