X-ATC-Chatter available from Stick and Rudder Studios

Recommended Posts

Many of you have been asking where you can get good ATC Chatter Files.

I am pleased to announce that Stick And Rudder Studios has just released a new product named X-ATC-Chatter.  From the makers of the popular X-Camera, this new offering provides a very nice selection of coordinated short ATC clips to be used with Pilot2ATC's ATC Chatter using the Controllers option.

This offering is unique in that it provides collections of clips from around the globe.  While not all regions are filled out yet, there is an excellent collection for the US and a growing set for several other regions.  Here's a link to their site with a description and a very nice tutorial video:

The files are being created by a group of volunteers in the community.  If you would like to contribute, you can go to the project site here:

Enjoy!

Dave

I just wanted to let everyone know that we posted a new version, 1.1, of X-ATC-Chatter that has more content for Europe. We will be adding even more over the next few weeks.

Although we have an active group of volunteers we can always use more. If you volunteer and submit 100 high quality clips that meet our standard you will get a free license to X-ATC-Chatter. You can read more about the volunteer program here: https://www.stickandrudderstudios.com/x-atc-chatter-project/

Mark,

I purchased Ralph’s ATC files years ago. Can these clips be merged with your product without any ill affects?

Cheers,

Yeah Mark, I purchased this just out of support for S&R.  Your X-Camera plugin is a must have.  I bought that one too.  I didn't think I'd use these but I tried it out yesterday and after adjusting my mixer settings to get all the sound balanced I have to say this is a really good idea.   It really adds a lot to the immersion.   I did have a minor problem that may be P2A related only.   Twice on my test flight, I keyed up while an audio file was playing and this seemed to jam my radio open.   I fixed it easy enough by flicking back and forth between standby and active comm freq and it unjammed the radio.

It would be a neat little feature if a player tries to key up when an audio chatter file is playing and the user gets the squeal of stepping on the other pilot.  :)

Thanks for the kind words. What do you mean by the radio was jammed open? Like the push-talk-switch was stuck on. The reason I ask is Dave may want the details on that.

No.  The push to talk wasn't stuck, the actually comm frequency stayed open.  You can't transmit on it anymore and the static soundFX I created played continuously which is how I knew the channel was left open after the AI Controller spoke.  I couldn't respond because the AI wasn't letting off the mic.   The only way I fixed it was swapping between my standby and active radio.   I did one cycle and everything returned to normal.

Thanks for the update.

That was the right fix.  Something must have gotten out of sync in the program.

Also bought it but I'm using country folders instead of controller folders because I have specific country files for some countries downloaded from LiveATC that I want to use that are more realistic than the X-ATC Chatter files. For the countries I don't have specific files this is great though.

Thumbs up. I purchased this two nights ago to go with Pilot2ATC that I had just downloaded for trial. The combination of the two are absolutely fantastic and I've gone on to purchase Pilot2ATC as well within two days of trial...why wait when you love it right :)

I had an issue at first where I could hardly hear the ATC chatter, but that came from being a Pilot2ATC newbie I guess, as the radios in Pilot2ATC was not turned up fully (wether that comes from Pilot2ATC default or from X-Plane 11 I don't actually know). Turning the radios up to full the ATC chatter comes through nice and clear and gives a completely new level of immersion.

Keep up the good work, I'm looking forward to further European chatter as well as coverage in other areas than US and EU and then of course to Pilot2ATC natively supporting the full region structure so it can automatically pick the correct sound files rather than having to swap around folders when changing regions in the sim.

We are making good progress adding to the collection, we are over 3,000 clips now for the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Oceania. I'll likely release a new version by mid December with all the new clips.

Great work.  Love the sounds bites very entertaining and even educational.  I can hardly wait for Pilot2atc to implement the regional support as well.

What a great combination.

Quick question, Is there a way to raise the volume for the chatter? I know that in Pilot2ATC you can raise the volume for your ATC but cant find anything for the Chatter. With the engines running and all the sounds in the cockpit I can not hear chatter at all. By the way love the chatter its awesome and a great combination with pilot2Atc.

Hi guys,

Just purchased Pilot2atc and also x-atc-chatter. I am in Australia and the website states

file counts by region:

United States: 1,518

Europe: 1320

Canada: 287

South America: 0

Asia: 0

Africa: 0

Oceania: 130

however I only have folders for the following after the install?

Africa

Asia

Canada

Europe

Am I missing something here? Where would the Oceania folder and files be sitting?

Thx Malcolm

I purchase this rescently and over the last 2 days I've been trying to get this thing to work but no luck. I hear no chatter. Watched the demo, copy US controller folder to C:/pilot2atc_2018_x64/sounds/atc_chatter/controllers. In pilot2atc and under the sounds tab the root folder is pointing to C:/pilot2atc_2018_x64/sounds.

controller folder chkd

play chatter chkd

pause between file playback chkd

x plane 11-running in administrator

x-atc-chatter

Newest version of pilot2atc -running in administrator

comm radio up button pressed several times when on ground and tower frequency is active. mute is off

aircraft pwr on and tuned to ground or tower or clr delivery frequency

The individual sound wav files play back no problems

Pilot2atc and IXEG aircraft is fully functional and working  in all other aspects

Did I miss something?
