rxpGNS2-FSIM(2.3.5) - crash ?

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

RE: rxpGNS2-FSIM (2.3.5)

Just getting started with the GNS530 V2 - installed the package - which includes the Garmin Trainer software... So far all good - just like old times - however when I use the nifty new configuration tool in the addon menu - when I try to swap out a gauge and I hit "SAVE" - P3D crashes... If I start the sim over and select the same plane P3D crashes... If I restore the original panel.cfg P3D will run normally again... I started the stand alone Garmin Trainer software that we all know so well - however - when I push the "on" knob the unit doesn't power up... I tried downloading and installing the Garmin Trainer software a second time - no change... If I swap out the gauge by hand in the panel.cfg - then try to use the plane - P3D crashes...

Any ideas ?

Thanks...

Regards,

Scott

It's normal for the trainer to not turn on.

As for the crash what is the sim version you are using?

What does your rxpGNS2.gau.log say?

Hi Bill,

Ahh - OK...

P3Dv3 (last one)

Where is that log file ?

I don't see the RXP gauges in the "Gauges" folder - is that where they should be ?

Thanks...

Regards,

Scott

Hi Bill,

Yep... Install_Client_Setup_3.4.22.19868.msi

Not much in the two RXP log files:

rxpGNS2.gau.log

17/10/29 02:37:30.888 09440 - ] # rxpGNS2.dll version 2.3.5.0
17/10/29 02:37:30.900 09440 INFO ]
rxpGnsSim.dll.log

17/10/29 02:37:31.204 09440 - ] # rxpGnsSim32.dll version 2.3.5.0

Logs look ok.

Jean-Luc will drop in and be able to help out. In the meantime you might post your event log report so JL will have the info to start with. He'll be able to get you up and running. Also have you rebooted computer and try again?

Hi Scott, I'm sorry for the initial experience with the product.

First things first, there is no issue known at this time with P3D 3, and the trainer won't power up standalone either and this is expected.

Installation with P3D3 and P3D4 leverage the 'add-on' installation method, therefore, 'gauges' and 'modules' install into "Program Files (x86)" and "My Documents\Prepar3D v3 Add-ons" contains the RXP add-on xml which references these.

Can you please cross check your anti-virus for any 'quarantined' or 'alert' about any of the RXP files? (they all begin with 'rxp') ?

Can you please also cross check your Windows event viewer for the crash in question and report their content?

Hi Jean-Luc,

No worries - realize it’s a release candidate and it’s probably something on my end... I had my antivirus software turned off when I installed it - whatever Win10 has built in is still running though... I’ll double check... I’ll get the windows event log as well - appreciate the help !!! I’ll post when I have a few minus to try it again...

Regards,

Scott

Hi Jean-Luc,

I didn't see any quarantined files - IU only had Windows Defender running when I installed them... My test plane is the Carenado Cheyenne - and I ran their RXP installer first - before attempting to configure with your tools in the Addon menu... Still crashes when I try to load plane after change...

Scott,

If it's any help, I could send you a preconfigured panel.cfg file for any of the A2A GA planes you plan to use the GNS 530 V2 with - just let me know which one(s).

Cheers,
Nick

Hi and thank you for the event reports, they contain much needed information I've highlighted above.

Clearly, FSUIPC is failing on you in this case. There might be a new version which cures this, or this might be a version not compatible with P3D3. Nevertheless, we don't use FSUIPC at all, and their latest seems v4.971.

You might want to first start trying the GNS V2 in a default aircraft, like the Baron 58, and assess it is running or not.

Then, put back FSUIPC and test again with the default Baron 58 to compare.

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the kind offer... I'll see how it goes...

Hi Jean-Luc,

Thanks for the assistance and help...

I tried putting the POP-UP in the default Baron as well - same deal...

I completely removed FSUIPC and tried it again... I no longer see FSUIPC errors...

The first P3D error is classified as a .NET issue in the event log (last entry in my log)...

Hi Scott, usually this would indicate a problem with a file in P3D. This happens when you have a scenery with a malformed object (could be a legacy scenery from an old FltSim with some defects in the files, i.e. not respecting 100% P3D SDK - sometimes this happens without the dev noticing). This could also happen when P3D is reading one of its config file and it is choking on a malformed entry.

The last possibility is that there is another module/addon running and it chokes with our protection. This is highly improbable given the widespread use of our products, but I can't eliminate this possibility. Usually this would only happen if you have a running program in the league of "debuggers" running at the same time.

The most likely remains a P3D file which is corrupted somehow because .NET is only used by P3D for is UI mostly.

Have you manually moved, edited, "played with" P3D files jn the past?
