3) Either the assistant missed changing the VC06 entry, or you've forgotten to also change this one. Just let us know.

This is changed after running RXP530.exe gauge installer.

Ok, so this means it is better running the Carenado setup first, then run the assistant.

I have a feeling users are running Carenado RXP Legacy installers thinking that it will also install the RXPv2 gauges.

In some cases yes. It seems Carenado panels are not all created equal.

In the case of the B1900 run legacy RXP530.exe gauge installer first then run the assistant.

Panel.cfg after installing GNSv2 using assistant.

One more thing. Carenado puts the popup toggle area on the top area of the VC bezel. Also same location on the popup so Shift + left click to resize gets overridden by the toggle command and closes the popup. Shift + right click for gauge settings still works.

Thank you for the detailed step-by-step tutorial Bill, this is most appreciated!

Why not removing these gauge too, and replace the functionality with the popleft= and popright= in the RealityXP.GNS.ini file then? It might be easier and you'll get full screen popup clickspot too?

That's too easy. LOL

Don't know how that feature got past me. Thanks.

Hi,

I tried the solutions as suggested. However, I still can't make the GNS work. The panel is blank and that shift-right mouse button doesnt work as well.

I note that there is no realityxp.gns.ini in the aircraft folder, the GNS Simulation is in the Program Files (x86)\Reality XP\ and that other than add-on.xml in the C:\Users\XXXXX\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\Reality XP GNS there is no other file. Are there any issues here?

Regards,

Edward

But the root cause is most likely:

Yes, the simulator is running as administrator.

Just don't! There is no need to run anything as 'administrator' on your computer, unless you are administering things and require a software to administer things on your behalf.

Our solution tries to make sure it prompts you for granting the access when needed, that is when it needs to write the panel.cfg or RXP ini file. Any add-on requiring you to run as admin must be carefully re-examined because there is no need too. UAC is there to protect your system, and software like FS don't require bypassing UAC. You might manually grant access to your use account to some FS subfolders, like scenery and aircraft, in order to help add-ons with a need to write there, but that is all.

More importantly, when you run a software as 'admin' you are simply bypassing the Windows mechanisms which are there to make software running on your computer running fine with UAC. That is all of a sudden, an expected path to a registry key changes without the software knowing about, an expected access right to a folder changes as well, and the software (FS, add-ons, etc...) fail.

Can you please try running the sim NOT AS ADMIN and see how it goes?
