help with light jet takeoffs

Recommended Posts

Just starting with light jets and having some questions. I am using mostly the  eclipse 550 which comes with a performance printout for climbing, I usually have enginees on takeoff at 100 and when I take off I lift wheels and then flaps at around 400-500 ft. I put the ias at the ideal speed using outside temp and weight. when I CLIMB using chart from o-5000 ft my climb fpm is way above the the chart and the same with 5000-10000 etc. Is it up to me to use the speed on the IAS but use the throttle to lower the nose so my climb fps is in line with the chart

I am not familiar with the engines used on the eclipse, but MOST jet engines put out their maximum rated thrust at about 90% N1. So if you gun them to 100%, you are likely getting 20% more thrust than the maximum rated (the increase per N1 is not linear) and you will also destroy the engines (if they were real) in a few minutes.

thanks, they are small engines. The jet is considered a light jet or extra light jet. Thanks maybe that's why, I always have it near 100 percent

Here is what you can do: Choose to output "engine thrust" to screen. Then rev up the engines until they put out 1500lbs of thrust, each. Note the N1. This is your maximum takeoff N1.

Looks like max N1 is 102% for 5 min
