Windows 10 latest 1709 update broke the Dash

The latest Win 10 update (the big one) seems to have broken the Dash, all the instruments have become a flashing mess.

Mike have you got a KB number for this update, when was it released? Is it Prepar3d v4.1 or v3.4? I'm pretty well up to date with windows and have flown 20 hours in the Q400 since the v4 update with no issues.

I had the same problem. I uninstalled the Q400 and reinstalled it. That fixed the issue for me.

Reinstalling the Q400 is the only solution at this time.

It came down this afternoon, took ages and had an intro when it finished, the build is Version 1709 OS Build 16299.19. P3D v4.1

I believe Microsoft is releasing a patch to the 1709 update on Nov 14th (Patch Tuesday) ... but not sure if that is specific to your situation.

This is an older topic with a work-around already.  But I just received the 1709 update yesterday, 12/2, and it didn't contain any patches to correct this flickering problem.

But, yes, the uninstall/reinstall fixed the problem.

This is just a heads up and a thanks for the support.

What is Microsoft doing about this ? Still on 1703 here..... for FSX.

I had understood it only borked 32 bit programs. Clearly not the case.

 

Cannot help a dark chuckle at the irony of how Microsoft finally managed to make their own flight simulator completely unuseable..... a program that was never great to start with. Oh the irony.

The windows update this week actually fixed the FSX and P3D issues with error messages.  The issue with the Q400 is unrelated and my understanding is that by reinstalling the aircraft, it will resolve the flickering and instrument panel.  It seems that after major updates, we may need to rerun the install.  😀

Not to revive and old post, but I just received this windows update a few days ago and sure enough, it did its damage to the Dash. My question is which .ini or cfg. files can I save prior to reinstalling so as to not loose my flight control and engine control configuration. I spent alot of time getting those just right and prefer not to have to do them again.

mjc84.ini, it's in the aircraft's folder in your FSX/P3D installation

Thanks, reinstall was painless. Saved the fltsim.xx lines from the aircraft.cfg and texture folders also, so my liveries were all intact as well.
