Unable to take Screen Shots in FSX:SE

Recommended Posts

Not sure why but when I go to take a screen shot in FSX:SE I get the message:"Unable to open screen shot file".  Any one know how I can correct this?

Make sure your FSX resolution and Windows resolution match.

Check your hard drive immediately, they may have found a way to infect image files, they are made of code.  Do not use Spybot or Malwarebytes, use Hijackthis.  Scan for any processes that do not look cope sendic, if they continue to exist, boot into DOS mode and rename them with the extension .exf or .cof.  If it's a boot sector virus, get a backup USB drive, reformat the original drive, a hard format.   Windows is a vulnerable application, Microsoft will have to get it's act together. Even Cell Phones, Unix, Apple, nothing is impervious to viruses and hackers.  And under no conditions, never go to a porn site, they are infected with massive viruses.  They will hijack your computer and make you pay ransom for looking at porn.  It's a pretty shady business, they can come and catch us if they can.

First of all I never go to porn sites.  Second of all, I'm not an IT guy and everything you just said is Greek to me.  Even if I used Hijackthis, I have no clue as to what to look for.  Who may have found a way to infect my image file?  There is no way I'm wiping my hard drive.  Just got this thing up and running, and I'm not about to go thru that again.

Seems to be a problem others have experienced as well. I googled it to see if I could find a solution and found a lot of posts on the next but no solution.

Is it actually saving a screen shot in your My Photos/FSX folder aside from giving that message?

I guess I need to check to see if an image is being saved.  I assumed that no image was taken after seeing that message.

Congrats, I am glad you worked it out.  Good perseverance on your part.  I love the screenshots forum, it is a great way to promote the flightsims, freeware and payware that is out there.  Also, I downloaded a new tool called Grammarly for Chrome.  I noticed a lag when spellcheck would kick in when I made posts, saw an advert pop up for it so I went for it.  It works much more fluidly when I type, especially because I am a "hunt and peck" typist.
