PMDG 737NGX vs FSLabs A320 vs Aerosoft A320

Recommended Posts

P3d v4.1

I'm not to concerned about depth I'm more concerned in performance.

Which of the three is best on the frame rates?

I have an old computer

I7-930 o/c to 3.8
6 Gigs of ram on board
GTX 960 w/4G memory

sooo.... I have the PMDG 747 QOTSII and in v3.4 it was to much and I had to take it off. Everyone says performance is better in 4.1 but I haven't noticed anything to stunning, maybe overall smoother.

What say you all. or should I forget it until I get a better/faster pooter.

oh , lets not stop here: other planes like the Majestic Dash 8 pro, TFDI B717, Aerosoft CRJ

I have some nice large airports that do well on my system but would like some sort of larger plane/jet etc that would be more realistic at these big airports.

Ciao!

This one is most probably the best performer of all the above.

The title alone is enough to get this thread locked! (seriously, it seems there's another one of these every few days)

Anyway, if you can't run the 747, forget about FSL. Aerosoft bus should run ok on your system. Q400 will run better than the others.

These posts are silly and done time and time again. Why do we need one every other week? You can not compare the Aerosoft Airbus and PMDG 737 to anything released today. Both are years old so how would you?

If you are concerned about performance, you should perhaps consider the iFly Boeing 737 NG as opposed to the PMDG one, since it is a bit easier on frame rates and it is roughly comparable in terms of being able to simulate realistic operations.

The iFly 737 I have considered... will have to look into that some more.

Seems to be the Dash 8 is the answer.

Thanks all and I'm sorry I offended some of you with this thread. I hope you can get over it and move on in your lives. Thanks for your kindness.

I have all of these, and the order I'd put them in for good performance would be :-

  1. Majestic Q400 (by a large margin!)
  2. Aerosoft A319/A320
  3. PMDG NGX
  4. FSL A320 (tough!!).

Another vote for the Majestic Q400. It is insanely good on performance yet somehow manages to rival (maybe even surpass) system depth to the larger players.

Your responses to these posts are silly and done time and time again.  Why can't u compare the performance of these aircraft?  They are all for the same simulator aren't they?

Have you tried turning off shadows completely ? I had very poor performance when running the NGX in v4.1. A fellow flight simmer suggested to turn of all shadows, and the performance increase was unbelieveable. From unable to run the NGX with the stock sim in clear weather, I now run the NGX with ASP4, REX TD and a few payware airports very smoothly. Considering that your hardware is much better than mine, I think you should be able to run the 747 quite well.

My range is like this:

1. MJC Q400 (even with sliders to the right)
2. PMDG 737
3. TfDi B717
4. Aerosoft Airbus
5. Aerosoft CRJ
6. FSL Airbus (even with sliders to the left)

So if you are worried about performance, the FSL should not cross your mind.

If you are unable to run the NGX today then you are in serious need of a hardware upgrade.

I run P3D on a laptop, so swapping out parts for new ones is a bit difficult for me. I'm quite happy with the current performance of the sim on a 4 year old laptop. I will eventually get a new laptop with better specs, but that'll be a while.

I can only echo the posts above.  Whilst my old i5 3570k and gtx970 thankfully cope rather well with all the PMDG birds and FSL A320 at pretty good settings, the Q400 is by far the best performer and a great plane all round.   The NGX and FSL A320 both run similar on my system but, noticeably less smooth than the Q400.

Cheers

Well, yes they're silly but here we are discussing it, sim forums don't really serve an important purpose in the world so if he wants to ask, no problem. I see it as just like chatting in the pub. 😊

OK, anyway. You absolutely can compare the PMDG 737 to the latest v4 aircraft. I've got the FSL320, Q400 and QOTS2. The NGX holds up well, in the last fortnight I've flown it for dozens of hours, more than the three above put together. It's got a great flight model, serious systems depth and it's a very useable aircraft.

These are all great planes, but as someone who flies all four in v4.1, I'd rank the enjoyment that I get from sitting in the left seat as NGX>Whale>Q400>A320.

Now, the other three can outpoint the NGX in specific areas - for example, the Q400 performs much more smoothly in P3D, and has a better flight model - but the PMDG 737 can still hold its head high, a great plane that was ahead of its time.
