How to flare in the TDS 787?

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

How do I flare the TDS 787 on landing?

Something is not right. Almost as soon as my back wheels touch the ground, the nose wheel slams straight down, making it almost impossible to make a smooth landing.

Any help is greatly appreciated. :)

I find that most, if not all freeware 787's have an inherent problem:  The center of gravity is way off.  I believe this is due to use of the same model and/or config for every aircraft issued.  I purchased  the new Quality Wings 787, and the CoG seems to be correct....

Ok, what can be done about this?

I would prefer to use the free TDS 787. I did look at the QW 787, but $100 is way too much.

I have found one, and only one TDS aircraft worth flying...the 727-200.  I have tried the 737s and the

787s and found the best place for them was in the Recycle bin.

I haven’t used the 727, but I have found their 737 to be one of the easiest aircraft to fly, once you get used to trimming before takeoff.

i have seen videos on YouTube of people landing the TDS 787 properly, so I know it can be done.

Any help is greatly appreciated. :)

It's not $100, it's $69.95.

That’s in US dollars, which is over 90 Australian dollars. :(

Still, why spend that much when there is a perfectly good 787, if I can just fix this one problem.

If it truly is a "center of gravity" problem, try emptying any forward fuel tank(s) before landing.   Keep excessive weight off of the nose gear.

I did try that, but I can't get the CG back far enough. :(

Like I said, I have seen videos of smooth landings in the TDS 787, so I know it can be done.

Any help is very much appreciated. :)

I've pointed you to a few documents in my previous post. In order to fix the CG, you need to understand the flight dynamics in MSFS. Look at the location of payload stations, fuel tanks and anything else with mass and a spatial position on the aircraft.

I have tried adjusting the default payload, and the CG does not move whatsoever.

I really want to use this plane, but the flaring problem is ruining it for me.

I will keep this topic going until I have found a solution.

Any suggestions are very much appreciated.
