April 3, 200620 yr I just tried to create a flight plan and route with the default FS9 flight planner from KAVP in Pennsylvania to London Heathrow. I chose High Airways, and IFR, and the route goes from PA up across Canada to Alaska, then goes back east across Canada and Greenland then down to the UK and London! I tried again with the same results. Does anyone know what's wrong here? Thanks. Tom
April 3, 200620 yr The computer is doing what it was programmed to do... look for named/numbered airways that will connect and go to where you want to go. Problem is there is not a good direct set of airways leading there, there are many routes that won't even find a set of airways and will kick you back out of the planner. You have the option of replanning with VOR to VOR or even direct GPS and then manually adding a few points yourself. By using the map function you can select high or low enroute airways and pick and choose waypoints that lead you in the best direct path to your destination. One suggestion is to use a SID for your departure airport and a STAR for your arrival airport and then fly direct between the last and first waypoints. You can also consider getting FSBuild2 which will assemble more realistic routings including SIDs and STARs and oceanic routings. April 4, 200620 yr It's a known flaw in the Flight Simulator flight planner relating to most trans-Atlantic flights.. You could use Super Flight Planner, which is free and can save plans in native Flight Simulator format Gerry Howard
