Crossfill on GNS ?

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

Just curious - noticed the installer allows for both a 1 and 2 units - is this for crossfill at some time in the future ?

Thanks....

Regards,

Scott

:wink:

Thanks so much...

So the RXP installer softer doesn't have an option to configure ?

Scott

It is a thing of the past! All settings in our new GNS V2 and GTN are configurable in-sim directly: in FltSim, SHIFT+right click the top edge of the device to open the settings panel, in X-Plane, go the menu Plugins | Reality XP | Device | Settings...

With the settings panel there is no need to manually fiddle with the ini file anymore.

Now this I've got to see - wow...

And you'll also discover most settings apply live (with the device running), few requires the device rebooting (in-sim), none requires reloading the aircraft or exiting the sim!

This is the same with our Panel Assistant menu, which changes your panel.cfg in-sim and reloads the aircraft for you! I can't tell you how much time this saves us when developing the products as well!

Or how much time it has saved me, a perfectionist when sizing and placing my RXP GNS and GTN 2D popups!  : -)

Hi Jean-Luc,

Just one bit of feedback if you’re interested on the GNS...

If you could make the knob rotation arrows a bit thicker - like the trainer had originally - and perhaps color coded them with a nice soft translucent color so you know immidiately if you’re on the inner or outer knob would be helpful...

Junt my two cents...

Scott

This one has been added in the last update:

1) SHIFT+left click device top edge to open the Settings Panel.

2) Gauge Options | Advanced | Use Legacy Mouse Knobs

This enables the legacy GNS knob handling (Left CCW, Right CW, Middle Push) as well as the legacy mouse cursors with red/green colour.

Knob highlighting is a legacy feature not implemented in this version, not only because nowadays monitors, and gauge resolution is much higher and requires less 'visual aids' than before, but also because the clickspots are much spread out and distinguishable more easily:

  • zone above the entire knob is the outer knob clickspot.
  • zone over the entire knob is the inner knob clickspot.
  • zone overlapping ¼ of the inner knob extending below is the inner knob push click-spot.
  • ASCII art to illustrate (straight from our source code):

  //            1/2                         1/2
  //   +---------+---------+       +---------+---------+
