Just found this.  Skimmed through it, but found broad references to the sims we use, and even mentioning Vatsim and Pilotedge for Comms training. Very nice recognition

In 1985 Sublogic petitioned the F.A.A.to get sim time to be accepted as log time providing you used a yoke and pedals..

There was talk used in the petition that alluded to the simulation being a natural for instrument time and instruction, too.
