Absolutely!.

Most switches and buttons work. FMS is still non-operational, but as in all aircraft in AFS2, you can create a flight plan using the default flight planner and it'll follow it as it was introduced in the FMS. The radios panel work well and you can select COM/NAV frequencies, and ILS approach procedures. IPACS developed a very complete and detailed tutorial to fly this aircraft (downloadable from thw wiki section). Needless to say the internal and external modeling of this aircraft is awesome!.

Well, in short, AFS2 is a new simulator with a lot (and I emphasize, A LOT of potential), but at this moment it still lacks many characteristics of most complex simulators like P3D, FSX and XPlane, like real weather, AI Traffic, ATC, aircraft systems and physics (weights, fuel consumption) and effects like door opening and closing, cargo doors, etc. In terms of FPS nothing is as fluid as AFS2, no stutters, no pauses (if you are using P3D-FSX or XPlane you'll know what we are talking about): I run AFS2 well over 60 FPS all the time even in "hard hitting" areas. The scenery is almost real (the base design of AFS2 uses photoreal scenery only) and sometimes you can say it's difficult to differenciate between your pictures from within the sim and the real life. Water effects like the surface and waves are still not simulated (water is still too quiet, is just photoreal). The sim main interface is smartly designed, the setup is very easy, and you can be up and flying in a fraction of a minute if you wish.

AFS2 is getting better and better and is already receiving support from ORBX for sceneries. They already delivered LOWI (Innsbruck) and KCGX (the old Meigs), that includes a huge amount of buildings in the Chicago area. Innsbruck is incredibly detailed, and to my taste, the best amongst all simulators I ever seen (I don't use XPlane, so I cannot tell in that case).

If you want to know more, go for it, you'll not get dissapointed!.

Have a lot in p3d, but was looking to have a second sim more stable without always boring upgrades. The two challenger are actualy Xp11 and AFS 2.

Flying complex aircrafts, but sometime like to do quite flys for visiting countries (outside the cockpit) at low level 1000ft above ground, in short hault of one hour.

Not a single sim crash in AFS2 since its installation on my laptop gaming computer last April (thanks for remembering me to mention this very important fact).

IMHO, for VFR flying, AFS2 is really a serious contender, probably the right choice!. If you like VR, AFS2 seems to be the king of simulators!.

You might be interested to know that Aerosoft will soon be selling Aerofly, and it's mentioned on their forum that they will very likely be doing scenery for the sim as well.

Was what I have in mind, the first invest is not heavy to try it of course.
