November 15, 20178 yr Dear all, I have just installed my first Prepar3d (v4.1), but I can´t use it: Whenever I try to access an inflight menu, it just opens a mirror image of the entire screen: Key settings are back to default. Nothing installed except Orbx (how could I, without these menus?). Does anybody have an idea here? November 15, 20178 yr Hi Gerold Possibly you have a corrupt dll.xml file Try this.......... Move both dll.xml files out of there locations onto your desktop, Then launch prepar3D and test Copy the TEX below and Paste them into your windows search bar one by one and click on the result, this will bring you to the correct locations Move both dll.xml files out onto your desktop, then launch and test %APPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4 %PROGRAMDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4

Totally fresh installation (by a P3D rookie). 13 minutes ago, Poppet said: Hi Gerold Possibly you have a corrupt dll.xml file Try this.......... Maybe I should add I use a new GPU as well (GTX1060), drivers are up to date but I am not sure with my DX11... I´ll test & report here! November 18, 20178 yr Author Dear Elaine @Poppet, I have now found the time to a) make sure that my Window 7 is up to date (is was), the GPU driver is up to date (it was), and that DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) are up to date (they were). b) went to the two possible locations for dll.xml - and found only one (in the second link, where also scenery.cfg is stored). Deleted this dll.xml. Started P3D - and it works! Finally I can enter the menus and continue with my add-on installations. Thank you, Elaine! P3D does not seem to be my friend: Wherever I install a new scenery, the above phenomenon returns. So I frequently do the same cure: - delete all dll.xml - even delete the Shaders folder - restart P3D, even restart the computer But now that does not help: I just see the same as posted initially. Does someone here have another idea or experienced solutions? Usually the menus are available then. I assume there is some issue with my graphics settings, not with p3d as such. Let´s keep this thread closed, the workaround is ok.
