Some incredible looking clouds available for X-Plane.

Recommended Posts

There are new clouds available on the .org. They look incredible:

It includes a lua script, but I advice changing the dataref "last_cloud_res=4" to "last_cloud_res=5" to improve cloud drawing distance.

I don't know if linking is allowed, it's called "XP11 Cloud textures improvement", you'll easily find it on the .org, uploaded today.

I was browsing the Org and saw these.  I guess it's just me but they don't look realistic at all.  Maybe it's the low resolution or the angle in some of the pics.  Or I'm just not used to those wispy clouds.

In my opinion, you'll get the best clouds with xEnviro combined with XEnviro experimental clouds 1.2 in res 4096 x 4096.

Regards,

Because xEnviro only provides real time weather, and is only available on Windows (last time I checked) this is not everybody's cup of tea.

I like them, it gives them an edge, what I was missing with the default couds (too soft for my part of the world).

Thanks for this and your follow up Murmur.  I do like the change and also your suggestion for a slight change.  I own a copy of SkyMaxx, but am weaning myself away because of many things and this seems to be the best alternative yet.

Thanks Murmur! Installed them now and they do look quite nice indeed!
