So according to the latest Navigraph inquire, 99.26% of the flight simmers are men...

Well, I'm not sure, but I bet women make-up a much higher percentage of the number of real-world pilots, especially in Europe. I guess they'ed rather actually be earning real money for sitting in a cramped cabin for endless hours then sitting at home in front of a PC on a desk.

It surprises me that the numbers are so low.  My wife likes to get on mine from time to time and goof around.

My wife shakes her head derisively at my hobby. .I suspect your wife is the exception.

We used to go up in Pipers and I'd let her take controls.  Wouldn't it be nice if more wives flew sims.  I know there are a fair amount of gamer women but it hasn't crossed over to simming...perhaps, because of all the maintenance involved.

Probably because they are working two jobs, raising kids, going to school, picking up after their other half and when they finally find some time for themselves would appreciate a glass of wine to decompress or some well deserved time at the spa or salon.

Probably not the best way of describing it, Gregg

I think my wife has long thought I was nuts and I guess the hours I spend flight simming just confirms that for her!

My wife couldn't be happier, a much cheaper hobby than my prior one.  She does sometimes fly multiplayer with me ... but on request only.  But it would be nice to get more women involved ... maybe they can draw things in the sky with a little more imagination and maturity and talent than men :)

Cheers, Rob.

My theory is the girls out there that are interested in Aviation are more likely to pursue it is a career over simulating it at home

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2139635/Queen-skies-The-girl-Britains-youngest-female-airline-pilots-aged-just-25.html

Girls are better at pursuing a career early on, guys will put things aside for other things and regret it later in life. The industry is still male dominated but a lot more guys would like to become a pilot then the ones that actually pursue it, a girl interested in it is more likely to pursue it and see it through.

There are women flightsimmers.  One used to post here and on the Orbx forum as Pennzoil and she is a good friend.

She is extremely knowledgeable and when I have a simulator or computer problem I e-mail her.  She usually hs the answers I need.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

I suspect the numbers would be similar across the board within the gaming world with the notable exception of casual or mobile gaming were i think women would dominate.
