shame you aren’t impressed. The videos are a gold mine of info with a lot of great stories and anecdotes thrown in from a guy with real world experience.

Maybe they should release a proper demo then. The official trailer only tells me a lot of things are going wrong ‘today’.

I will second Airline2Sim videos. Extremely good. I would say it's one of those buy and don't look back "addons".

Jerome,

I would not buy the Airline 2 Sim videos if you do not understand the demos. I got the Cadet version and kept rewinding it to try and understand them. Between the accents,  the two pilots talking over each other, and the background aircraft noise I just couldn't make out what they were saying. I tried it on numerous devices, speakers, headphones, no luck. That video needs closed captioning and/or an accompanying text document.

I bought the A2S videos before the plane and because of my frustration I never installed he plane.

I read through your post three times, to make sure I didn't misunderstand you.

Even if they overlay at times, it's (for me) completely understandable - and English isn't even my native language.

I too have the Cadet version, and am actually inclined to buy the F/O version.

English is your native language and you couldn’t understand?

Think your self lucky josh or Ben aren’t from Birmingham or Newcastle! 😄

The accents they have on the videos are extremely mild at best.

if josh can be understood across multiple European air traffic control zones I’m sure everyone else can manage too

do you understand a Texan when he talks? Same deal.....

Glad I am not the only one.  But er... not installing the plane because of this is a HUGE mistake! It’s one of the best, if not THE best, planes out there! Do yourself a favor and install it right away!

Lol, well, by The accent josh has I would say he’s from the East Midlands. Maybe Leicester area.

As north Staffordshire lad by birth, I have no trouble understanding him 😄

BTW I am not getting that Airliner2Sim stuff: I watched the demo and intro of it again and 1. too much chatting, 2. I can hardly hear what the guy is saying: his articulation leaves a lot to be desired (for me at least) and 3. there seems to be no index whatsoever so if you want to go back to something interesting you heard while watching there is no way to find that info again unless you watch the video's again

Hi,

while I am a huge fan of the A2S series, personally I think that they are not tutorials in the true sense of the word. What you get to see is a normal day in the life of an airline pilot. The chatting and stories are there to better explain the why and how things are done in the RW and to keep things interesting - otherwise they would be pretty boring (in one of the vids Josh says something along the lines of: "Commercial aviation is not about excitement. If it gets exciting, that is a strong indication that we are doing something wrong"). If your focus is to learn how to operate every system and switch in the simulated aircraft, these vids won't help much, that IMO is not their purpose. But if you want to know how the aircraft is actually operated in real life, then they are very enjoyable and helpful. A little bit like all those cockpit videos of real flights that are out there. Also note that not everything in the videos is exactly like that in the sim (for example ATC are voiceovers by real people, A2S don't use any ATC system or addon)

I highly recommend them to anyone who is more interested in "real" realism over "simulated" realism = how things are actually done as opposed to how we imagine that they should be done. But as a reference/manual/handbook for every aspect of the Majestic Q400 they are only of limited use.

As for the voices being hard to understand - these are two Englishmen just chatting away. They tend to talk (very) fast, and Josh (the real world pilot) does not speak Oxford English (more like Liverpool IIRC). Depending on you language skills, you may have to watch the vids a couple of times.

Best regards

On the Airline 2 Sim videos, let's just say as a native Yorkshire man, things could be far worse on the accents.

They are quite chatty during the videos but to be honest it kept me engaged in them and i feel helped me learn more about the Aircraft,

I can only compare them to the videos i bought on the 737 from Angle of Attack; another native (southern UK i would guess) gives very dry technical information.  They are also very informative but feel like i am back 20 years at University learning topological insulators for the first time.

Ah, yes, that makes sense. In fact it makes so much sense that I may buy the Cadet training. I was indeed hoping for or thinking about a detailed tutorial-like video and I couldn't put my finger on it but it seemed to me the A2S video's aren't that. You brought words to my confused thoughts. But I am ALSO interested in how things are done during a normal day in the life of an airline pilot so as I said, I might get the video's anyway now!

When majestic q400 pro was published, I shared sometimes the cockpit with a pilot from Paris

A lot of questions coming and lot of discutions are done through the flyghts (most on cruise level).

When I discovered the Airline 2 Sim videos, we are very happy because a lot of questions found reponses in this series...

yes accents are a little hard and have more difficult with english (I'm french speaking) but I look the videos in details and now q400 is the plane I flow the best.

Learning curve is well.

Ok, so I bought the Cadet training. I simply want to see everything there is to see about the Q400. So far it's nice and interesting but well, also a lot of 'filler' imho. Nice watch though so far.

In the meantime I have had lots of fun creating my preferred cold and dark state! I love how you can edit that script! I really like to have a cold and dark cockpit that's exactly as how I left it after shutdown and the script makes that possible! Very nice! I would hate it to change settings I don't feel like changing only to make the cold and dark state as it is how Majestic programmed it... But now I can leave everything the way I want to and when I get back to the plane all knobs and swtiches and optioes are still the same!

Things I have changed:
- Bus Tie OFF (instead of ON)
- no GPU (instead of connected)
- both Ignition knobs to OFF (instead of NORM)

Things I have added:
- EGPWS flaps to 15 (instead of 10)
- MDF1 to SYS (instead of NAV)
- PDF2 bearings to VOR and ADF (instead of er... the other way around, I think)
- NO SMOKING to ON (instead of OFF)

BTW I also turned off all 5 screens at first but it turns out you can't really turn them off at all! The OFF position just lowers brightness so the screen goes black. So I decided to remove that script again.

Guys, sorry for the delay in responding but I was in the middle of a house sale and move when I posted last in this thread. Took me awhile to find the thread again!

Anyway, I wanted to respond and update everyone. After I got back home I tried streaming the Q400 Airline2Sim videos again and still could not understand most of what was said. I purchased my version from Vimeo years ago and noticed that I could not get the videos to stream in HD. I then downloaded all the videos (13 gb) to my harddrive and tried again. An amazing difference! I did some spot tests of a couple videos and I could understand about 90% of what was said versus 20% before. I do not know what the streaming problem was as I have a fast internet connection and a fast computer.

I want to thank everyone for getting me to try them again! I'm looking forward to watching them now. I plan on reading the aircraft manuals first as I expect that I'll get more from the videos then.

Jeroen, The reason that I haven't installed the Q400 yet is only because I haven't had much time to sim much this year. Never one to pass up a good sale I have enough new uninstalled addons to keep me interested for a couple years! I see that you are really enjoying the Q400 and I am looking forward to getting in the cockpit also. I'm hoping to have more time to sim in 2018......we're almost there!

Happy New Years!
