DIY - Simple instrument panel

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I would like to build myself a simple instrument panel for xplane (just some knobs and switches - nothing fancy) . I think the easiest way would be to use an usb keyboard controller and connect the switches to the device. But I must admit, I´ve never done any soldering before and would like go the easy way and simply connect wires :-) . Is there any kind of "plug & play" controller device I could buy with switches and wire connectors?

Thanks for helping out,

Michael

SimMarket has some USB panels on sale right now.  I've never used any of these, but probably worth a look.

Thanks - but that still isn´t quite the equipment I´m looking for. I don´t want to buy ready made components - I just want to have simple switches or rotary knobs and some kind of usb controller (keyboard ?) that will communicate with xplane. But instead of having to solder the wires I would like to "plug" things together.

Isn´t there anything like that available?

Easy - no soldering controller board with push in wire connectors:

Just connect up your buttons and rotary controllers, stick it in a little box, plug a USB lead into it and you're done. Configure it in XPlane or FSX or whatever just as you would any joystick with buttons.

Or if you want to solder it, a bit cheaper:
