Add-on.xml crash

Recommended Posts

So I started converting over my freeware sceneries to P3D v4.1. I'm adding them through add-on.xml, but after some "limit" of add-on.xml files, my P3D crashes on the Scenario screen, if I remove the same amount off add-on.xml it works again. Also I'm pretty positive that it's not because of the freeware sceneries. Because I've read some posts, where people have similar problems even with payware addons.

I just wanna know if someone else is experiencing this and if someone knows a fix for this?

Are you using the Lorby_Si Addon Manager?  If there is a limit on the number of addon.xml's, I am unaware of that.  I have seen some talk about it though.  Not every scenery you own is P3DV4.1 compatible.  If the scenery is not compatible, your sim will crash.  If there was a limit on the number of addon.xml files, I am sure it would have been posted by Lockheed by now.  You do not have to have all of your scenery located in the Addon.xml configuration.  You can still use the Scenery Config.

Best regards,

Jim

Thank you for the answer!

I am using the Lorby_Si Addon Manager, but the thing is which ever scenery I take out from the add-on.xml list then it works. Also I want to note that I only add Effects, "external" Texture, Simobjects and Sound using add-on.xml method. The sceneries are installed using the old method w/o add-on.xml.

Do a search on this forums to see previous posts about your problem. Other users have mentioned having the same issue and also mentioned LM would provide a fix for this in the short future (limit on the number of add-on.xml).

If there is a limit, then I would put the scenery that exceeds the limit in the Scenery.cfg until LM figures it all out.

So I moved all of the files that were installed using add-on.xml to default P3D folder (I backed the folders up) and everything works. So it probably has to do something with the add-on.xml method. Either a limit or something else.

Hi,

In my case :

After add my sceneries by classic method, If the add-on.cfg file existe in "Roaming user" (even empty), the scenery manager crash beyond 161 entries. (I've try 3x)

After removing some entries, it continues to crash. I had to delete the add-on.cfg file, delete my add-on.xml in documents and purge in programData the SceneryIndexes_x64 folder.

After reload 2x P3Dv4, the scenery manager doesn't crash anymore.

But it's a problem because I can't use URP v1.1 for P3D v4Orbx ObjectFlow 2 using add-on.xml entries, and, wanting to use them, my scenery manager continues to crash.

I hope a patch.

Friendly

Aimé
