Noticed that after updating Windows 10 Pro 64bit 15053.608 to 1709 OS build 16299.64 I started to experience flickering of the screen when moving the mouse over switches, buttons, knobs within the cockpit. This was happening in both 2D & 3D VC cockpits. If I switched to windowed mode the flickering would stop.

What would not be corrected via the switch to windowed mode was now small white flashing squares in jet contrails & wing tip vapor effects.

The only fix was to roll Windows 10 Pro back to 1703 OS build 15063.726

Microsoft has certainly rained chaos with it's recent updates to the OS starting about 2 months ago. IMO....they need to stay on the clock until it's fixed. Meaning no one goes home until then.

I'm currently using Crimson 17.11.2 drivers but I tested several older ones when on the 1709 build and the results were the same. It is not graphics driver related.

Hello udidwht,

They certainly did it for me and my FS2004.

I was having many problems which I managed to fix  until they eventually made it unable to launch therefore unable to do any effin thing. I then read a thread which stated that MS had advised a simmer to abandon FSX, FSX-SE and P3Dv3 and use P3Dv4.  Not a great solution for a lot of simmers.

I eventually, after days of trying to fix my sim, uninstalled Win 10 and "upgraded" to Win 7 64 bit Ultimate and I am a happy vegemite again.

I am very much aware that progress is essential but to upgrade to Win 7 to get a working platform is bloody ridiculous. Unfortunately, Win 7 is NOT the best OS for P3Dv4, XPlane11 nor even FSW, so for now, they are abandoned by mineself. If and when, MS sort out Win 10 and make it viable for FS2004 again, I will happlily reinstall Win 10.  I was, actually, quite happy with it until about the middle of this year when everything started going wrong for me.

I am not trying to start a war here and if anybody is still operating FS2004 or the Lesser platforms (ie not P3Dv4, Xplane FSW etc) I will be happy to return

Cheers Tony
