Great shots, and as usual, I have an anecdote to go with your theme.  I headed the Hospitality Controller department at Harrah's Tahoe.  We had a lot of fun as a team there, we even had a private yacht.  One of my employees, who I really looked at as a mentor, went to smoke a cigarette one day.  She went to the car, opened the door, and filled the car with smoke.  Then horror began to descend upon her--she went into a car identical to her own!  She smoked in someone else's car!  She told us what happened and we all wondered how the owner would react upon smelling smoke in his or her car.

Then there was New Year's Eve.  Chico State University students, a well-known party campus, descended on Tahoe in the hundreds.  We even heated the sidewalks so they would not break their necks in their inebriated stupor.  As I was leaving work that night, a police officer beckoned me to roll down my window.  He pointed at the rowdy crowd, nodded towards my casino and said with a sly grin "This is your fault!".  Then he sent me on my merry way...  That job was my transition to my computer teaching career, I had tried it right before, decided I needed a bit more people experience, then decided to heck with hotel operations, being stuck in one place was awful, and away I went, still traveling to the four corners of the globe to this very day...

Wonderful set!  The inland mountains followed by the northern Sacramento Valley, then the Sierra Nevada's and finally Tahoe itself.  Great shots over great scenery.

Is precisely the question... The kind of storage to use,... for so huge quantity of datas, big ssd stay expensive. Do you think that a fast sata WD black Disk of 2 gigas inside de computer is enough ?

Appreciate the comment.....Yes and over the Sierra Nevada into Owens Valley and Long Valley run interconnecting magma chambers producing cinder cones and lava flows...bishop was made on pyroclastic flow from the Long Valley Caldera!

Very good question....the WD Black is a 7200rpm HDD and only capable of 80mb/s....The problem is that photoscenery does not have the explosive compression that landclass has....two WD Black working intel RAID0 can pump out 160mb/s

I actually use two WD Velociraptors in intel RAID0 @340 mb/s...so each screenshot is rendered by two HDD sharing the task....your storage is the sum of all the HDD in the array!

Sure Raid0 is a nice solution, it is not the first time that I 'm lookink to do a raid, in first mind was a Raid 5 with 3 fast big disks (but because sceneries are not changing datas, it is possible to do some time a backup on a other outside disk and working quietely in raid 0).

Now... time of pleasure to find the best solution to have. ;-)

Many thanks for comments....I use a 128kb stripe size...2TB array X two arrays...back up externally....RAID is what was used before the SSD was invented....if you purchased an intel chipset you already own RAID on the disk!

SSD is now the first choice for mostly but not sure compared to well done raid is the best solution. For very great To capacities perhaps raids are beter... Actualy I owned 2 ssd, one for p3dv3 and a other for v4 but the 2 are near full... A solution is replace v3 disk by other photorealsceneries but so I must decided to lost some aircrafts and sceneries 32bits...
