My oldest flight in simming

Recommended Posts

Today I enjoyed my first route that I loved in the days since I started with FSII from Sublogic.  I flew from Midway, IL, to Springfield, IL at night.  I loved flying that route in FSII and I even put a little hack in that program to fly it faster than the default Piper they used.  I found if you went into settings and put a negative value for flaps, the Piper could haul blank at over 250 mph.  One of my many hacks over the years to improve the DOS based games performance.  I have some screenshots of that flight posted today in the screenshots forum.

I used to do that same flight quite often in the original subLOGIC sim for Commodore 64!  While I am Australian, at the time I lived in southern Michigan, so it was 'local' flying at the time!  I have not done it in 30+ years now, so you have inspired me to do it again - only this time I will do it in Carenado's Rockwell Aero Commander 690B with the best Garmin GPS system installed!

Cheers,  Brian L Robinson

Flight Simmer since 1983 - loving the brilliant Quality Wings 787 and all PMDG models!!

My favourite back then was Meigs to Willard and back, sometimes with a stop in Kankakee

Sublogic Indianapolis to Meigs. Indianapolis airport I remember was just a big green slab. How exciting was that! I still fly that route now that Orbx brought back Meigs in all her former glory.

SubLogic Flight Simulator, for Commodore 64, from Meigs to Willard.

Looking back in time....Oh my God!!! I am 71 now, still "flying" P3D v4.1, X-plane 11, DCS and, lately, Aerofly FS2.

Best of regards to all fellow flyers!

Nicholas

Ah Sublogic- what fond memories  Meigs -- Kankakee--University of Willard--Paxton -- wonderful.

Now 73 and still at this hobby. P3DV4.1 with my own B737 home cockpit, running Prosim 737.
