Looking at 1080Ti cards with an eye on possibly VR in the future. For video ports card manufacturers either have:

2x HDMI + 2X DP

or

1X HDMI + 3X DP

Q1) Why the difference, I thought 2X HDMI was needed for VR?

Q2) Does this effect max total resolution for multi-monitor setups?

To put it another way... which is the more useful combination on the graphics card:

1x HDMI + 3DP

or

2X HDMI + 2DP

Djang0,

I do not know if this is going to helpful but...

I really do not know if there is going to be any really significant difference.   I think that the Display port is the newest outport mode but if it is significantly better

than HDMI is probably a moot point. I have used those combinations for a couple of years now and varied them. I have even used (and still do) a DVI output and even with that I do not notice any real benefits.

Please bear in mind that I am mostly using 1080p LED TVs and two Monitors of much the same resolution.  I am also using predominently FS2004 which is a whole different graphics scenerio. You MAY find, if you are using 2K or 4K TVs or monitors, there is a difference, but whether or not you detect a difference is going to a personal preference thing I think. I am guessing however, that you are 1080p with your 32inch TV.

I stress that these are MY findings and there are bound to be others who have found differently.

I further apologise for the delay in response...I actually saw this yesterday and was about to offer my humble advice when I got called away for the day.

I hope this helps

Regards

Tony
