690B Mods v2

This is apparently for the 500 not the 690 as there are no throttles, propeller levers or mixture levers in a 690.  Only power levers and condition levers.

Note that on a Garrett engine the prop and condition levers are tied together. If the condition levers are in a low position the props are as well, same goes for the high position.

I get all that in the RW.  Unfortunately it has little bearing on how P3D and Carenado codes their airplanes.  Users most often have hardware controls for throttle, props, and mixture.  FSX/P3D provides provisions only for free turbine turboprop engines (PT-6), which have throttles (power levers) prop controls and mixture controls (condition levers).  Carenado, or any other developer, has to program the mixture control to work independently on direct drive engines because there is not actually a mixture control in the VC and there is a variable relationship between mixture, power, and propeller controls in the code (condition lever simulation).  Users could simply remove any assignment to hardware mixture controls and the 690B would work just fine.  But not everyone uses FSUIPC or some other module that allows aircraft specific assignments.  If the hardware mixture levers are assigned to mixture control with the 690B as the user aircraft, the mixture levers must be in the full rich position otherwise the engines will shut themselves down within about 30-60 seconds after start.  This is because the mixture and fuel flow is being manipulated and controlled within the 18Hz code.  If the engines are left at a constant power setting for an extended period of time such as idle after start while completing other tasks, the code gets a rest from the mixture and fuel flow manipulation.  If the hardware mixture levers are assigned to the mixture control function and are left in the cutoff position, that position is seen by the main FSX/P3D programming during the period when the 18Hz code is resting, resulting in engine shutdown.

I see. It would have been a good idea to mention that you meant the hardware throttle, prop, mixture, as this was confusing .

If the hardware mixture is set to max, do you still get the correct low RPM like with the condition levers at low in the VC (without hardware mixture)?

Yes.  As long as the hardware mixture is set to pretty much anything except cut-off the condition levers work properly.  I just recommend full rich to alleviate ANY problems with inadvertent shutdowns.
